Points Break Hotel List for Marathoners

IHG updated their Points Break hotel list last weekend and go into affect today. The Points Break list is the best deal in hotel awards. It allows you to receive a free night during the promotional period for 5,000 points (which is a good deal less than the normal cost). The list rotates every so often. This current list is good for hotel stays through March 31, 2014.

Dubai Marathon Race Report

This is my personal race report about the Dubai Marathon. Later this week/early next week I will post a detailed review about the marathon itself. I was really excited going into this race as I had a great training program, the training itself went well and it was a city that I had already ran in. Not only that, but the course was known to be very fast and was begging for a world record. That meant that the race committee and city organizers were going to do everything within their power to ensure that the course and race were ready and well-organized. I arrived in Dubai…

Miles to Soften the United Devaluation

As almost all frequent flyers know, February 1st marks the start of United Airlines new award chart that seriously hikes the cost (in miles) of premium award travel. With this date fast approaching, many are emptying their accounts to snag as many premium awards as possible. Part of the pain of the new award chart…

Aegean Gold Worth More Than Ever

Elite status has changed a bit just over the past couple of years. Most of the changes have not favored the traveler who is not a top-tier or big spender with their chosen airline. In addition, the miles accrued in the airline programs are now less valuable with what can be redeemed. As a result, many flyers have grown frustrated with frequent flyer programs and turned to just flying with the cheapest airfare instead of staying hooked to a particular program.

Dubai Fountains (VIDEO)

Dubai is quite simply an impressive city. The thought that continues to strike as I made my way throughout Dubai is just that its citizens go to great lengths to have the biggest, brightest, best, most expensive of everything in the world. They have the world’s tallest building, the world’s biggest mall (and second biggest), the world’s richest marathon, the world’s only 7-star hotel (self-appointed), the world’s biggest – basically, just fill in the blank. However, one of the things that overwhelmed me the most was the Dubai Fountains…

United Airlines Award Devaluation Postponed

February 1 is here – and United apparently has decided they are not as well prepared to handle the new award chart as they may have thought before. Instead of the new, huge mileage hikes kicking in today, they are now postponed until Monday (February 3). So, now you have…

There are a lot of people who have been feverishly booking premium . We have the United devaluation (that had been postponed until tomorrow) and a recent fare sale on Etihad Airways first class and business class travel (dead now, but details can be found here).
