This post is normally our Sunday Summary but due to some scheduling issues yesterday, I am putting it out today instead as a Weekly Summary. This overview is of all the things that were covered over the past week.

Being Sought After By Thousands Of People In Your Travels

Many people do not want to be sought after by thousands of people while away. That is true especially if you are on vacation! But there are some people that travel to be sought after by the masses and, for some of you, your travels could actually have that same type of draw to thousands of people! Read more…

When Running a 2:08 Marathon Is a Good Day!

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about when running a 2:08 marathon is a bad day. That would certainly not be a bad day for me, but it was for Mo Farah! One of the readers suggested after last week’s Boston Marathon that I write a new post about when running a 2:08 marathon is a good day – because that is exactly what kind of day Meb Keflezighi had when he won…   Read more…

Miles and Points Sprint

Here is a brief rundown on some of the happenings in the world of miles and points so far this week… Read more…

Buy $200 Visa Gift Cards And Earn Big UR Points

Many different blogs wrote yesterday (I read about it first at Mommy Points) about the fact that Staples now has $200 Visa gift cards for sale online. This is a big help for people who want to earn big points, especially Ultimate Reward points.  Read more…

Get Ready For Some Good Resale Deals To Generate Miles and Points!

A couple of months ago, I wrote about Manufactured Spending without Vanilla Reload. No, I did not have a premonition of the inability to purchase Vanilla Reload cards with a credit card. Instead, I wanted to show one of the methods that I have used to generate a little profit as well as miles. Read more…

Time Running Out To Get Additional Bonuses From Amex

According to many reports, May 1 is the day that American Express will no longer allow customers to receive sign-up bonuses if they have already held the card. This is a big change for American Express who used to allow customers to churn the cards often before making it that you had to not have held the card for 12 months. Now, this move will be that customers will no longer be able to get the repeat bonuses.  Read more…

Amazon Success Story – Kindle Paperwhite For $26

Before anyone gets too excited – this deal was targeted and has expired. I just had to share one of those great deals that we all get from time to time! Saturday evening, I received a targeted offer (which is why I did not write about it) of $75 off the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (or off of the Kindle Fire HDX) or $50 off the basic Kindle or the Kindle Fire HD. This was really great news because I wanted to surprise a friend and get him a Kindle Paperwhite while I was… Read more…

Are You A United Elite? Don’t Forget Your Marriott Status (and vice versa)!

Thanks to the program that United and Marriott partnered in last year (called RewardsPlus), it is possible to match your mid-high tier elite status to the other for status with them as well. While neither status is going to be life-changing for your travel habits, it is always good to take whatever status is available to you! When it comes to hotels, I do mix it up a bit. I stay at          Read more…

Great Sale At Puma + Earning Points = Winning!

Puma is having their “Private” Sale that goes today and tomorrow. This sale has athletic shoes up to 75% off. There are some really great deals on running gear. I personally do not use Puma but I have friends that do and they love them! If you run in them or would like to get a great deal, make sure you buy before… Read more…

Credit Card to Consider: Marriott Rewards Card With 70K Points

This offer is around from time to time. Most of the public offers you will see are at 50,000 points or less. Obviously, a card that gives 70,000 points as a sign-up is a pretty decent one! It has been a number of years since I have held this card but my dad and mom have held this card for many years. Here is what it has to offer… Read more…

Flying Blue Promo Awards 25-50% Off to Europe

Flying Blue (the frequent flyer program of KLM and Air France) runs a program they call Promo Awards. I have discussed these awards before, but here is an overview. These promo awards are award routes that offer a 25% – 50% discount off of normal award mileage requirements for certain city pairs. The promo awards come out each month and are applicable for certain cities in the US to Europe. These awards must be redeemed on the Flying Blue airlines (such as Air France, KLM, etc). As a result, these awards come with… Read more…

Credit Card to Consider: Lufthansa’s Miles and More Card With 50,000 Miles

This card is typically at 20,000 miles but it has its moments when it pops up to 50,000 miles. For most people, the intended purpose of these miles will actually not be the best use for them. However, for people that seeking to travel domestically and may have already burned through the United cards…  Read more…

Get To Europe With One Credit Card App – Chase Ink Increases Offer to 60K

Chase Ultimate Reward points have taken a bit of a hit in the last year, thanks to the devaluation of the high-end travel experiences offered by United and Hyatt and the devaluation of Southwest. I still believe, however, that Ultimate Reward points retain fantastic value since you still get 1.25 cents per point when you redeem the points directly for travel and there is still a lot of economy flights and mid-tier hotels that you can get with their points. In fact… Read more…

Recently Applied for the Chase Ink Cards at the Lower Level? Get 10K More Points!

When an increased offer comes around, like the Chase Ink offer that raises the bonus 10,000 points, there are many people that have a head-slapping moment. They say, “I JUST applied for this card a couple of weeks ago at the lower level! I can’t believe it!”

Which US Airways Card Offer To Apply For?

There are a few different offers floating around for the US Airways credit card. This card used to be one of the best cards to get simply because it was so easy to get and churn. You could get 40,000 or 50,000 miles with one purchase and no annual fee until the second year – and they rewarded you for paying that by giving you an additional 10,000 miles! Not only was that a great deal, but you could get it over and over and over again (one person was able to get 5 in one day!). In the last year or so, Barclays has…

No More Foreign Transaction Fees On Delta Amex Cards – Too Little Too Late?

Yesterday marked the first day of American Express not passing along foreign transaction fees to Delta Amex cardholders. Foreign transaction fees have long been something that American Express would not shed except for their high-end cards. On the other end of the spectrum, Chase has been issuing most of their cards with no foreign transaction fees. The foreign transaction fee is a fee of 3% that is… Read more…

Wells Fargo Propel World Card – $400 in Points Offer + more!

This was a card I had not heard of until I read about it yesterday on the PF Digest blog. This sounds like a really great offer and one that can give you some real value as well as an application with a different bank. Wells Fargo Propel… Read more…

5K Friday: 5Ks On Runways/Airports

For this Friday, I thought it would be fun to look at some of the 5Ks on runways or airports. There are quite a few around the country and, having done a few myself, they are really fun events. It is cool to be trying to run fast down the same surface that the airplanes take-off and land on! It is also surprising that some of the runways are not as flat as you might think!  Read more…

Why I Love Miles and Points

Miles and points are a great tool. Of course, you will see a lot of aspirational travel that is done and talked about because of miles and points and that’s great. It is great to be able to use miles and points to visit new places (and run new races) that we may not ever otherwise have the ability to do. But sometimes, miles and points can be used for more simple things… Read more…
