Any regular readers here know that I love TripIt. I have been a Pro user for years and talk about them quite a bit here. They are always working hard on development with the app and service to make it more useful for travelers all the time. Now, they have taken another great step which was an awesome gesture.
TripIt Pro Available to Everyone for Six Months
Starting Friday, March 13, TripIt Pro will be available for free to everyone for six months. It normally costs $49 per year (or $39 if you sign-up through our link) so this is an awesome, free upgrade worth about $25.
TripIt says they are doing this because “The SAP Concur and TripIt teams want to do our part to help you stay as informed as possible when you travel.” While the basic TripIt app is great for a lot of things, it is the Pro side that opens up a lot more value with things like flight cancellation/change notifications (often well before the staff at your gate even knows!) as well as seat alerts, price drops, and more. If you travel much at all, TripIt Pro is practically a necessity.
Now, in these uncertain travel times with airlines cancelling routes/schedules, TripIt Pro can really be your go-to source for all things travel updates. Here are some of the highlighted features that TripIt Pro will give you:
- Flight Status: Receive real-time flight alerts, such as delays and gate changes
- Alternate Flights: Find additional flight options when you need them
- Fare Tracker: Get notified if your airfare drops after you book
- Inner Circle: Keep your family and friends updated on your travel plans
How Do You Get TripIt Pro for Free?
It is simple – here is what they have to say:
On Friday, March 13, we’ll be opening access to our premium service, TripIt Pro.
If you’re new to TripIt, sign up between March 13 and March 31, and we’ll automatically give you access to TripIt Pro for six months.
Starting Friday, March 13, we’ll also be rolling this out to our current TripIt users.
That’s it! You are good to go! Well done, TripIt, to help out the traveling community in such an unsure time!
Those of you that end us really using this, I don’t think you will mind forking over the $50 per year after the six months ends. 🙂 Just wait until you see the value you get from it!
Asking for a friend (hah) – Do those of us already paying $49 per year get a six month extension to our subscription?
Yep! You (or your friend!) will get 6 months for free as well!
