One of my all-time favorite travel accessories is the Apple AirTag. It has helped me many times to locate things that have gone missing – especially when an airline is the one that has done the losing. However, it can be hard to actually get airline staff to do something about that at times. Not any more with this latest feature added by Apple!
New Apple Update Brings Great Feature to Find My Network
In the iOS 18.2, Apple has made it possible to share the item’s location with airlines – so now they can take the actual location and do something about it instead of just seeing it on your phone.
There are more than 15 airlines that are support this new feature, but the first three that have started are live now and those airlines are Air Canada, Delta, and United. This was shared this week here on X:
Exciting news for all of us travelers! Starting this week, United, Delta, and Air Canada will accept Find My item locations to help track delayed bags, with more airlines coming soon. Such a game-changer! pic.twitter.com/VMcw0D1At0

To make sure you are set for this, here is what you need to do:
- Make sure you have updated your iPhone to iOS 18.2
- Open Find My app
- Find your missing item listed and tap on it
- Tap to “Share Item Location”
- This will give you a webpage that you can share the link for with the airline.
For more in-depth, check this Apple support page.
The airlines each have ways to submit this information so make sure you check with your airline you are flying. Of course, remember to stop sharing the location after you have found the item.
The airlines that have committed to working with this new feature are: Aer Lingus, Air Canada (live now), Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Delta Air Lines (live now), Eurowings, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, Turkish Airlines, United (live now), Virgin Atlantic and Vueling.
This shows how far the Find My network and Apple AirTags have come. It was only 2 years ago that Lufthansa wanted to ban AirTags and now they are building an interface to let AirTags become a way to find your luggage faster through them.
