Marathons

Boston Marathon Registration Opens Monday!

It is that time of year! The clock is quickly ticking down until the first entrants for the Boston Marathon can begin their registration process. It was only a few years ago that the time for the Boston Marathon registration stretched all the way into March. In fact, there was a marathon just before the registration deadline called the Last Chance Marathon to give runners seeking a Boston qualifier one last chance to get into the most heralded of marathons a few weeks before the race occurred! Now, we have the tiered entry system that is graded to the qualifying time within each age group – and this is after they already made the entry times more difficult!

So, you have your Boston qualifying time – what should you be expecting and what is the calendar of entry like for next week?

Facts

  • Race Day – April 21, 2014
  • Race Fee – $175 for US residents, $225 for international residents
  • Qualification window for 2014 Boston – September 22, 2012 – registration closes
  • Registration Application – BAA
  • Field size – 36,000 runners

So, get ready to enter next week! Hopefully, I will have a BQ time at some point – whether I get faster or older! 🙂
