That is because there are many packages that have a focus point (like this one, photography) but they also include nice accommodations for the duration of your stay. This is another such package and something you should check out if you plan on making a trip to Spain (or even Europe) this summer!

The hotel included is the Westin Palace, a hotel that normally requires 20,000 Starpoints per night. This package is for a 2 night stay so, at the very least, it would be worth 40,000 points (though you could deduct a few points for the fact that it is for a fixed date period).

Here is everything this package includes:

  • A two-night stay in standard newly restored room with breakfast included at The Westin Palace, Madrid, checking in Friday, 20 July 2018, and checking out Sunday, 22 July 2018
  • Three-hour morning tour visiting the three most relevant photo exhibitions of PhotoEspaña, accompanied by an expert curator
  • Then a five-hour evening Madrid photography tour with an expert photographer, includes a stop at a typical bar to enjoy tapas and drinks
  • Transportation included
  • Experience is for two people

The cash price for this room and breakfast on a similar weekend is $750. If you actually do want to take advantage of the photography tour as well, figure a bit more for this 5 hour tour plus a 3 hour tour of the photo exhibitions.

Throw in the transportation and you have a package that could be worth about $1,000 for the two people.

Bidding Details:

  • End Date: 12 Jul 2018 – 07:00 AM EDT

  • Starting Bid: 20,000 Starpoints

  • Bid Increment: 500 Starpoints

  • Current High Bid: 20,000 Starpoints

As you can see this just started and doesn’t even end for another 70 days. But, if this is something that may be of interest to you, bookmark it and check back again. There is a good chance that you could get this at a bargain because of the dates – the auction ends just one week before the experience.

I love it when people plan bigger trips off of something like this. If you wanted, you could build a little trip around this experience and throw some other cities in as well.

Cool tip: If you wanted to have a fun, short business class experience, you could jump up to Frankfurt after this trip using LATAM (a South American carrier) for this fifth freedom route. Their plane has very nice lie-flat seats and you can actually buy a business class ticket for just $200!

This is one of the truly great things about miles and points – what might take people years to plan and prepare for could be decided by something like this! Using points to offset everything, you could get a really nice little trip with this being the inspiration. 🙂

But, unless you really want this photography perspective, don’t go higher than 40,000 Starpoints since that is what a 2 night stay would cost at this property with just points anyway.
