The Great Hyatt Credit Card Has Two Changes for New Applicants

There are some changes to the Hyatt credit card offer that will affect new applicants. But, overall, the Hyatt credit card is still a very great deal!

One of my favorite hotel credit card offers is the Chase Hyatt credit card offer. Not only is the bonus an awesome 2 free nights anywhere, but it also has a very nice anniversary night and has lately offered promotions for cardholders. But, if you are going to apply, here are two changes you need to know about.

The Hyatt Credit Card Offer Raises Spending & Adds Fee

The Hyatt credit card has seen some changes in its history. At one point, it was a first purchase bonus, then $1,000 spending required. It had waived the annual fee, not waived it, then waived it again.

But, for a while, the terms were to spend $1,000 in 90 days and you would get your 2 free nights. Also, the annual fee of $75 was waived.

As of very recently, the terms have changed to this:

  • Spend $2,000 in 90 days
  • $75 Annual fee not waived the first year

An additional $1,000 in spending over 3 months is not a big deal but those 2 free nights will now cost you $75 thanks to the annual fee not being waived. Still, even that is not a huge deal. I think my wife or I had applied years ago when the annual fee was not waived and it was still a great deal. For $37.50 per night, we were able to stay at the over $400 per night Andaz 5th Avenue in New York City. Not bad!

Finding the Best Hyatt Card Offer

Offer #1

If you want to minimize that annual fee, the best Hyatt card currently has two other offers available to the public. This one is through the booking process.

  • Go to Hyatt.com
  • Start to make a reservation
  • On the payment page (you do not have to actually make the booking), click on the Hyatt ad that is there

After your first purchase, you will receive a $50 statement credit so it mostly gives you the annual fee back. You will still need to spend the $2,000, though.

Offer #2

This other Hyatt credit card offer does not give you the $50 statement credit but will give you 5,000 points after you add an authorized user to the card. Between these two offers, I think this is the better offer as I can easily get at least $100 out of those extra 5,000 points.

Summary

While it is never nice to see changes to a credit card offer, these are 2 changes that I could live with. The 2 free nights are still there and incredibly valuable and the card itself is a nice one to keep. After the first year, it behaves just like the one I have now.
