With this current mileage sale, you could buy enough miles for around $400 to fly some amazing business class flights all around Asia! Check out the details before the sale ends!

Asian airlines have developed some great products in their premium cabins, both in terms of the hard product (the seat) and the soft product (the service). Many of these great airlines are in the Star Alliance – airlines like ANA, Asiana, EVA, Singapore, and Thai all have received rave reviews for various aspects of their airplanes and service.

Here’s the thing – some of these flights go for over $2,000 when flying around Asia in business class one way. But, if you buy these Aegean miles during their sale, you could get the miles you need for just $400+ and then just pay the minimal taxes that go with the flight redemption. These miles could unlock some serious business class enjoyment!

What Do You Need?

Aegean’s Miles+Bonus program charges just 21,000 airline miles for travel within their “Far East” region in business class. That is much lower than what United now charges and it really is a steal for the amount of ground you cover with those flights.

Through October 31, you can buy those airline miles for just $400+ (it is charged in Euros so the actual cost is 350€ for the 21,000 miles). That is an awesome deal!

Where Can You Fly?

Aegean classifies this region as “Far East” and these are the countries they locate in this region:

  • China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam

When you look at a map with those countries, it covers a large space! Large space means some serious time in lie-flat beds, as much as over 7 hours on some routes!

What Kind of Business Class Cabins Can You Fly?

The options are really wide open to you (depending on award availability, of course). You can fly for over 7 hours from Tokyo to Bangkok on Thai Airways A380, you could fly ANA’s own 787 on that same route, you could fly Singapore’s 787 or 777 business class, EVA’s business class, Asiana’s 747, and many more!

All of these great airlines have some of their flagship aircraft flying routes throughout this region of Asia and you could pick which one you want to fly on. For the longest flight times, obviously pick something at the north or south part of these region to the other end. In fact, you could pick other locations as well since most flights will go through hubs in Bankgok, Singapore, Seoul, or Tokyo.

What You Need to Know To Book These Business Class Flights

Search on United

United’s award calendar is really pretty great so start by shopping for your award flights there. After you find them…

Book with Aegean

Since you are using Aegean miles, you actually need to book these with Aegean. This can be done online and you start here. You will need to sign in and will need the 21,000 miles to search the business class flights.

All you will pay in cash is the minimal taxes, less than $30 or so.

With Aegean, you only get one connection but it can be up to 24 hours! This means that you could fly Tokyo to Bali through Singapore or Bangkok, for example. This would allow you to have up to a 24 hour connection in either city (or another city like Taipei) so you get two stops for the price of one!

Want More? Fly First Class!

If you want to try out first class on some of these carriers, you can do that for just 40,000 miles. That would cost you €675 but it could be a nice experience if you want to see the best these airlines have to offer!

Takeaway

If you are visiting Asia, you could certainly get around on the low cost carrier for a lot less than $400. But if you were going to fly the full service carriers, you would probably pay close to that for economy on some of these legs – buy the miles with that money instead and try out business class!

  • Thanks for this great information, Charlie! I can’t wait to book a killer trip to Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Kota Kinabalu, or Yangon.

      • Any idea about expiration on these, Charlie? AwardWallet is telling me my miles will expire in 5.5 months but I’m guessing that is only the 1,000 orphan miles I had before the purchase. And shouldn’t the purchase have reset the expiration date on those?

        • Only tier (elite) miles expire and they expire 12 months after earning them. When you signed up for an account, you received 1,000 award miles and 1,000 elite miles. Those elite miles are what will expire.

  • @Charlie
First, thank you for this great post! I’m glad that I stumbled on this on the right time because I need to get ticket for route CGK-TPE for wedding event next April. Can you give tips on how to search and book for this? Do I search in United? Because i think from Jakarta to Taiwan it woulf be by EVA, right? Do you know how many miles does it cost? Thanks!!

    • Thanks, glad it helps! Yes, start by searching on United. You will need to look for flights with only one connection (or nonstop). After you find the date, go back to Aegean and you can book it with them online or over the phone. But, to search for it on Aegean, you will need to have the miles. EVA would probably be best and for business, it would cost 21,000 miles one way and economy would be 12,500 miles one way. Have a great trip and enjoy the wedding!

  • Some taxes are about 95 Euro though…. I booked a ticket from HND to CGK on ANA and the taxes were 95 euro. Then the return flight routed through BKK before returning to HND and it was another 95 euro in taxes…. Still a good deal but too bad the taxes are a lot higher than 23 euro.

    • It should still be live through tonight so maybe give them a call and have them process the mileage sale over the phone (I purchased miles over the phone from them years ago). Last year, they ran a sale near Christmas for the usual 40%. This was the first time it was 50% so maybe we will see that as the new normal?
      It’s back up again!

  • I can’t get this to work for me. I’d like to fly from Bali to Tokyo through Singapore. Aegean uses a dropdown menu for points of departure and arrival and these cities aren’t on the list. How do you get around that? Hoping to fly ANA’s 787 but SQ, EVA, or Asiana would work, too. Can be flexible on departure from Bali if necessary but I spend a couple of months there every year and then go to the States. I can pick up a United flight from Tokyo to the US.

Do you have an award booker who can help me with this?
