In a new all-time high, the SPG cards are now offering 35,000 Startpoints as a bonus. This is a tremendous offer! Let’s get into it.

35,000 Starpoints For SPG Cards

35,000 Starpoints

Every year, normally in the summer, Amex raises the bonus on the SPG card from the normal 25,000 points to 30,000 points. This new offer is an all-time high of 35,000 Starpoints which is a fantastic deal. It is also not a huge surprise that this has happened now.

Who Is Eligible For The Bonus?

First things first. Last week, Amex changed the terms on their business cards to eliminate any previous/current cardholder from ever receiving the bonus again. Now, that policy applies to both personal and business cards.

This means that if you have ever had a business or personal SPG card, you are not eligible for this bonus. Amex will let you apply and may even give you the card, but you will not receive the bonus. If you are not sure if you have had the card(s), contact Amex to see if you have had it.

But, if you have had one card, you are absolutely eligible for the other card bonus. So, if you had the personal card, you can go ahead and get the business card and receive that bonus. The same works in the reverse.

Getting The Bonus Offer

Below, you will find the links for receiving the bonus offer. However, if you would like to help support the blog, I would appreciate it if you would e-mail me so that I can send you a referral offer. (the links above are my links as well but I am not sure if they are single use or not – on the off chance that they are not, you could just use those and thank you!) You will get the same offer and I will get 5,000 Starpoints for referring you. I greatly appreciate you taking the extra step, should you decide you would like to do this.

The public links are already up and can be found right on the Amex home page or from here – personal card and business card.

Card Details

The Amex SPG cards are some of the most flexible out there given what you can do with their points. One of the things that makes them even more valuable is that you only earn 1 point per dollar spent for general spending. With these points, there are a variety of options to redeem for, including such things as transferring to a number of airlines and receiving a bonus of 5,000 miles when you transfer 20,000 points.

Also, you can do things like use these Starpoints for Moments, special packages that SPG has put together for their members. Some of them can give you extreme value like this one where the points received a redemption value of 16 cents per point!

And, of course, you can redeem directly for hotel stays. There are plenty of fabulous hotels in the SPG portfolio and these points can go a long way to setting you up for some great trips. One of the trips my family and I used some Starpoints on was for a great family vacation in Florida where we got 5 nights at an incredible hotel for only 40,000 points.

This is the highest offer ever on the SPG Amex cards and it is definitely worth signing up for. Having 35,000 Starpoints can give you a lot of redemption options! Just remember, if you have ever had the card before do not apply for it as you will not get the bonus!

It is important to remember, especially as you read the many posts that will be coming shortly about this offer, that there may be some posts that do not mention the Amex rule and you need to make sure yourself that you are eligible for the offer. If you apply (having already had the card) and receive the card, you will not get the bonus but the person who’s link you clicked on will get the referral (whether it be cash or points). Make sure you know if you have had the card!

But, if you have never had either card, this bonus is a hard one to pass up. I am really missing that I cannot take advantage of it (already having the cards myself).

  • How/why is this not getting completely blown up? This is the best offer I’ve ever seen on these cards, and no one else is reporting it… Are you the only one with the affiliate link?

    • The affiliate link I put in is the same other cardholders can get so nothing special (post coming soon on that). The regular affiliate links that pay cash have not gone live yet and Amex does not all regular affiliates to direct link to Amex cards unless it is through the affiliate channel. You should see a lot more posts about it in the next 3 hours. 🙂

      • Wow–still radio silence from everyone else. Your honesty on this offer just earned you a few commissions from my wife and me in the future. Thanks for breaking this, Charlie.

        • Thanks so much, Jake! I really appreciate the kind words (and the commissions!). Thanks for reading and commenting!
Just as a reminder, most of the time (like 99%) the links in posts do not earn me a commission. For card offers that do, please visit this link which is the Credit Card tabs at the top of the page. From there, you can select the different links that will show you all the credit card offers available (you can also search by issuer on the pages it goes to as well). Thanks again!

    • You can definitely try (contact them through your account online) but they had stopped matching offers a couple of years ago unfortunately. Still, mention that you feel really bad since you had just gotten the card and you know you never will be able to get the bonus again. Worth a shot!

        • I applied just yesterday, just a few hours before the new bonus started! I’m trying to work with AMex now to match the bonus but they’re not budging 🙁

          • That is terrible! Mention that their once per lifetime rule makes it so rough on you as a customer because you are now eliminated from ever getting an offer like this.
Or, you could wait until it comes and then start hitting the referral link with family and friends like crazy to make up for it!

  • Thanks for the post! Any idea how long this offer is good for? I just applied for Ink and if I get approved have that 5k to spend.
