Why Start a Blog?

But, you don’t need to start a miles and points blog. Maybe there is something that you have an interest in or something that you want to write about. Those are two great reasons to start a blog or really any website. If you are someone who likes communicating with people or being creative, blogs are a great way to do that.

I have been blogging for almost 6 years now and there are definitely things I have learned over the years during that time. One of the things I have enjoyed is how blogging encourages me to seek out different things that can present deals and value for other people. Maybe you are like this?

I Am a Happy Customer

I am a customer of Bluehost for two different sites. My wife recently started a blog (last year) and is already killing it in terms of growth and revenue! Bluehost has not given her any issues during this time. I am starting another blog (in the travel space as well) that I am using Bluehost for also. So, I am not writing about something I do not have a bit of a history with. I have used many other services over time and Bluehost has been the best for me yet, including with the pricing structure.

Should You Do It?

I cannot tell you if you should do it but I know that it was definitely a great decision for me. Not only has it allowed me to make some money on the side but it has also allowed me to meet people from all over the world and develop friendships with them.

Blogging is great for growing a community around your interest, it is great for creativity, it is great for giving you something to grow into and be accountable in, and it is just generally fun!

I will say – don’t start a blog today thinking you will make money next month. But, it is totally possible to generate some income through ad rates (my wife’s blog is actually earning over $10 per thousand right now!) as well as affiliate links with things like Amazon. However, if you start a blog today as a way to make money, you will probably give up in just a year or less.

Take your idea and turn it into a blog – you will never know what may come of it if you don’t! And, for today and tomorrow, it could cost you under $100 for 3 years to get that blog from an idea to a reality.
