Today is the last full day to make your Hyatt award bookings at the hotels that will be going up in points tomorrow (March 26). This post has the details and a full and searchable list to help you find the properties and locations easily. Make sure you especially lock in any of the hotels that will go outside the Category 1 – 4 range as they will no longer be bookable with Hyatt Free Night Certificates.

In all this year, there are 183 hotels that are changing categories this year. The changes will happen on March 26. For hotels that go down in categories, if you have a booking at one of those hotels, you will receive a refund for the adjustment in points. For those that go up, as long as you have booked it prior to March 26, you are good at the current prices.

There are some real hits coming with popular hotels and cities. Fortunately, my two go-to properties aren’t shifting this year but some other favorites are moving up.
These include:
- Park Hyatt Washington (from 5 to 6)
- Park Hyatt Istanbul – Macka Palas (from 5 to 6)
- Park Hyatt Auckland (from 5 to 6)
- Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego (from 4 to 5 which makes it ineligible for the free night certificates that many have)
- Grand Hyatt Washington DC (from 4 to 5 which makes it ineligible for the free night certificates that many have)
And there are many more, but I definitely want to call attention to Washington, DC hotels. There are 7 hotels in the DC area that are going up, three of these going from a category 4 to a 5 which make them out of reach for the popular free night certificates.
Remember – you will get a refund in the points difference after tomorrow if you have a reservation at a property that is dropping categories. But, if you want to lock in the other rates for those going up, do it today!
