Garmin has mixed things up a little bit as far as their releases and product lines this year. The Garmin Forerunner 645 is their premium running watch in the lineup but it is also more than 1.5 years old. This year, Garmin released their Garmin Forerunner 45 (a pretty great “entry” level GPS watch), the Garmin Forerunner 245 (a fantastic running watch with some high-end features), and the Garmin Forerunner 945 (their premium triathlete watch). They also released the Garmin Fenix 6 lineup of watches.
So, the Garmin Forerunner 645 does not have some features that are available on the Forerunner 245, even though it is a more premium running watch. Namely, it is missing the PacePro feature which lets the watch help you set up a race plan by splits. However, it does have other things that the 245 doesn’t have too like a more upscale design/materials and things like a barometer to help with the altitude readings.
All that to say – the Garmin Forerunner 645 is not the latest Garmin watch but it is still an absolutely incredible watch – and now it is available at a price lower than the mid-point Garmin running watch!
