The World of Hyatt card has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Not only did it offer a nice sign-up bonus when I first got it, but it also has a great anniversary night as well as letting spending count towards elite nights. But, there is another offer as well which I think most people should not get, but here are both.
Two Different World of Hyatt Card Offers
The first one is the one that I definitely think is best for almost everyone – at least if you value Hyatt points and free nights (which I imagine most people getting this card do).
World of Hyatt Card with Larger Bonus

This offer gives you 35,000 bonus points after you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months. That is ok, nothing great. But, if you keep spending on the card, you will earn up to another 30,000 points. This is because the card earns you 2 bonus points per $1 spent in the first 6 months (normally, the card only earns 1 point per dollar on regular spending). This works on up to $15,000 in spending.
This means you will wind up with a total of 65,000 points, worth more than $1,000 (I would peg it around $1,300) in redemption value. For a card with a $95 annual fee, this is great.
Normally, I do not like card offers that pin part of the bonus on everyday spending because it really isn’t a normal sign-up bonus. However, I don’t mind this at all because anyone that is able to do so should be putting $15,000 in spending on this card every year.
The reason for that is you get an additional Category 1 – 4 free night award when you spend $15,000 in a year. This is in addition to the anniversary free night you get every year on your cardmember anniversary.
PLUS, you get 5 elite night credits automatically just for having the card. Spending $5,000 will earn you another 2 elite night credits. So, if you spend the full $15,000 in the 6 months, you will end up with 11 elite night credits without spending a single night in a hotel. This puts you 19 nights away from Explorist status, which does have some meaningful benefits.
So, I definitely recommend this offer if you are wanting to get the World of Hyatt card now.
World of Hyatt Card with Statement Credits

But, if you go through the process of booking a Hyatt room, you may see this offer pop up. I don’t tell people what to do but most people should not get this card offer!
This card also requires $3,000 in spending to get the point bonus – which is a meager 10,000 bonus points. With the card comes $300 in Hyatt statement credits, meaning you will get up to $300 back when you use the card to pay for Hyatt stays/expenses. This only works in my mind if you are at Hyatt properties which cost very little in comparison to the points required to stay there.
Just stick with the first offer and you will be happier! 🙂 Avoid this one when it pops up, no matter how good Chase and Hyatt try to make it look.
