Almost a year ago, the US dropped the Covid testing requirement for entry into the US. Also last year, President Biden said that the “pandemic is over” in regards to Covid. In the last year, pretty much every country has dropped their requirements related to Covid. Well, except the US with their insanity regarding vaccine requirements for foreigners.

I have written about this several times and mentioned again and again that it is time that the US drops this insane requirement, especially when there are no requirements or restrictions for Covid at all. Even the countries that took very aggressive measures (like in Europe) regarding Covid have dropped those requirements.
I have been eagerly awaiting this rule to stop since I have friends that want to visit but are unable to due to this requirement. Even as other countries accepted things like proof of having had Covid in the last 6 months or so as a suitable substitute for the vaccination proof, the US continues to only accept foreigners that have had a Covid vaccine (well, unless you walk over the southern border, that is).
This extension was just added this week, on April 27. There is currently no end date and I am sincerely puzzled as to why the Biden administration simply didn’t just let it expire. I mean, what is even the point of this anymore? If you are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or U.S. lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), you are not required to be vaccinated and no one is required to get tested to fly to the US. Covid, for most people, reveals itself as a cold and is actually something you wouldn’t even know you have unless you do a self-test. So, without mask requirement or test requirements, what is the point of requiring foreigners to be vaccinated?
Last year when I last wrote about this, I mentioned that the only thing I could imagine with this was that the administration may have just “forgotten” about it since they hadn’t updated it. Well, they went ahead and renewed it so, why?
I understand some may wish to have this kept in place but it honestly does not even make sense anymore. There is no testing required to enter the US, there are no masks requirements when flying to or entering the US, and there are no vaccination requirements for anyone but foreigners. At this point, what’s the point?
However, I have heard a few cases now how some people have been able to fly to Miami from Europe without having a vaccination certificate. I know Florida had separate rules they applied for cruise ships. Does anyone know if this would also apply to travelers by air?

I just returned from a trip to 5 European countries and everyone of them required full vaccination proof or a recent medical recovery statement…so why should the US be more lax than Europe?

The reason if obvious to those who are awake. They want to DESTROY the economy by any means possible, and make people more dependent upon government. Keeping people out does nothing to add to the economy. Therefore – that is the goal. It has nothing to do with a vaccine, or covid, or anything. WAKE UP!
So before getting fired, Tucker Carlson released a documentary on Fox News that explored whether the US should invade Canada on behalf of its oppressed citizens and liberate them from their dictator Trudeau. Why do they need to be liberated? Well, because during covid Canada had a national requirement that foreigners entering the country had to be vaccinated, and if they weren’t, they were barred entry. This spurred a whole collection of angry celebrity political speakers who had to cancel their Canadian tour dates because they weren’t vaccinated. And thus began a war by Fox News against the dictarship of Canada, whom didn’t let unvaccinated alt right speakers in. So, how about those unvaccinated Canadians who want to get into the US? I guess Fox was a little hypocritical there, not too surprising.
More insanity from an Administration disconnected from reality and common sense.
There is no update regarding an “extension” to the current vaccine requirement to enter the US. The only update was the CDC changing the defined terms of vaccinated person. Your article title is click bate and certainly dishearten viewers who have been waiting years for it to drop to reunite with love ones.
I agree the requirement no longer makes sense given there are no more COVID requirements but don’t have sympathy for your anti-vax friends. Is there a legitimate reason why they were not vaccinated 2 years ago or did they buy into the anti-vax propaganda?
This should not be a big deal. Most everyone has been vaccinated by now, and this is a way to ensure foreigners arriving by aircraft do not bring new variants into the country. It should apply to the southern border as well, but we have so many problems staffing the border that checking vaccination status would slow crossing lanes down to a standstill.
How can we petition to change this? It’s ridiculous and I have family in europe who can’t come over because of these rules. It’s absolutely absurd.
