Check out these awesome American Express Platinum offers that can get you 100,000 points plus 10X points in some spending – or even 125,000 points!

Here comes something that many of us thought was inevitable during this time in the world – credit card issuers trying to get people to apply and use their cards. To do this, American Express is throwing a lot of points at people who apply for their high-fee Platinum card – and actually use it in certain categories.

Many of you may have seen these come out last week but I have been not posting much lately (busy, busy, busy!). So, this week will have some catchup posts from things I had not written last week.

The American Express Platinum card comes with a $550 annual fee up front and several benefits for people that want a premium card. It is a charge card so no defined credit line which can be helpful if you have larger purchases to make.

The normal offer had been 60,000 points but has gone up to 75,000 points through affiliate links. However, if you use non-affiliate links in private browsers (like Google Incognito, Safari Private, Firefox Private Browser, etc), you may be able to get 100,000 points plus 10X points at gas stations and supermarkets.

But, WAIT, it could be even better! If you sign-in to see your offers, you may be greeted with a 125,000 points offer!

The 10X spending of the 100K and 125K offers make it even better for those that spend any kind of money at US gas stations or US supermarkets – which has taken more of people’s wallet share this year! Up to $15,000 in spending will get you 10X points in those two categories. That’s a potential 150,000 points that can be earned in 6 months!

But, do not go crazy with gift card purchases at your supermarket. Amex has been known to claw back points that are earned through this method. So, it may be a bit difficult for most people to organically spend over $2,000 per month on gas and groceries, but if you can, this is an awesome offer for that.

Here is what else Amex Platinum cardholders get:

  • 5X points on purchases made with airlines directly or with Amex Travel
  • 5X points on hotel bookings booked directly through the Amex Travel site
  • $200 in airline incidental credit per calendar year (so $400 for this first year if you can spend that first $200 before the end of 2020)
  • $200 in Uber credit (which breaks down to $15 per month and an $20 in December)
  • Lounge access to the great Centurion lounges, Delta SkyClubs, Priority Pass lounges (though the select membership), Airspace lounges and access to the International American Express lounge network
  • Marriott Gold status
  • Hilton Gold status
  • Fee reimbursement for Global Entry or TSA Precheck

Bottom Line

The American Express Platinum personal card has some awesome card offers right now. Thanks to the Amex pop-up, you can try to apply and see if American Express considers you ineligible to get the sign-up bonus before you even make an application. This should let you know if you are good to get this offer if you had the card before (which you could be ok with if it has been over 5 years).

This is definitely an offer to take, even with the $550 annual fee. This will give you a lot of points to use on travel when things pick up again.
