There is a new luxury hotel coming to Athens as Greece is set to get a Conrad hotel, one of Hilton’s luxury brands. This will be a great points option!

Greece has seen a major uptick in chain hotel options over the last few years with some luxury properties opening up as well, which has made it possible to redeem points for even better stays in Greece. Now, Greece will be getting their first Conrad property, a Hilton luxury brand which should be popular with many. This is in addition to the new Hilton opening on Santorini.

Greece Getting a Conrad Hotel

The Hilton Athens has been the premier Hilton offering in Athens since 1963 and is in a great location with views of the Acropolis. Well, it is about to change and will become a Conrad hotel. The company that will be handling this, the Ionian Hotel Enterprises, has announced that they will be beginning a 130 million project (which is in addition to the 145 million they spent on acquiring the property). This property will open as a hotel and private residences.

On the private residences side, those will be opened under the Waldorf Astoria and Conrad brand as residences. There will be about 50 of these private residences that will be available.

On the hotel side, this new Conrad hotel in Athens will be getting about 280 rooms and suites as well as many on-site facilities and amenities. This new hotel is set to open in 2024. Of course, at this time, there is no word on the amount of points that will be required for a night. Conrad hotels typically are at the higher end of the spectrum but they do fluctuate based on pricing/demand so it may be that it could get as low as 50,000 points per night. But, I cannot say for sure.

  • I’ve been staying at this property since I started going to Greece in 2006. Have always loved it, although it is showing its age. We were there again this past September. I’m a lifetime Diamond Honors member and have always received a suite upgrade facing the Acropolis.

The Galaxy Bar is iconic with great views of the Acropolis at night.

The breakfast buffet in the restaurant (complimentary for Diamonds and maybe for Gold, not sure) is terrific.

The location may not be ideal for some but we like being near Kolanaki and walking to Syntagma is not an issue
