This week, I wrote about how AA had extended the transfer bonus on SPG points. I also mentioned how there was a better option available if you were transferring in higher point numbers. That was to transfer SPG points to Marriott and then transfer Marriott points using the Hotel + Air packages. Well, now you can earn a bonus on that as well!

Important Edit: Thanks to a reader comment below for pointing this part out (not sure how I missed it!): Travel Packages: Points converted to AAdvantage miles as part of a Marriott Rewards/AAdvantage travel package do not qualify for this promotion. While the Marriott Hotel + Air package is a “travel” package, I am not sure if AA actually receives it coded differently than a regular mileage transfer. So, until I have some data points, I would suggest not transferring points through a Hotel + Air package for the sole reason of taking advantage of this transfer bonus. To find out more about the Hotel + Air package, check this post.

is that considered a travel package
“Travel Packages: Points converted to AAdvantage miles as part of a Marriott Rewards/AAdvantage travel package do not qualify for this promotion”
Good catch – I was looking for something like that and missed it. I am not sure how it is coded from Marriott. It should be as a regular mileage transfer but I could be wrong.
