Turkish Airlines has now canceled all their flights until May 28. This is now a month out and this post has your options if your flight was canceled.

Turkish Airlines has just now extended their flight cancellation all the way to May 28, 2020. I actually found this out because I had booked a flight for earlier that week and an hour later, the segments started to disappear. 🙂

Turkish Airlines Has Canceled All Flights – Again

Turkish Airlines had been only canceling certain routes before canceling everything – but just out a week or two. Now, they have stretched it out more than week from the last cancellation (May 20) to May 28.

Also, they have made this cancellation cover all their flights – not just international. As of now, I am actually scheduled to be on one of the first flights from the US back to Turkey that day so I will eagerly be watching that! Incidentally, last year when the new airport in Istanbul opened, I was also on one of the fist few flights to land at it! Wow, what a year can bring!

Flight Canceled? Here is What Options You Have

Anyway, if you have found that your flights are canceled, Turkish Airlines has some options for you. Unfortunately, if you go with a straight refund, you will not be getting that until at least July 27 (because they say it will take 60 days following their resumption of service). They do have other options like a voucher that is good for the value plus 15% (see this post). They also have some other unique offers that you can see here:

options available to those who had canceled tickets are (in addition to the voucher):

  • Convert ticket into miles at a rate of 1,000 miles per €10 value of ticket
  • Change the ticket for no fee or fare increase
  • Convert to an Open Ticket that allows flight to any city in the region with no fare increase or change fee
  • Cash refund up to 60 days after flight operations begin again
