For a limited-time, you can buy Aegean miles with a 50% bonus! That can unlock the door to some really great premium awards around the world!

Aegean Airlines is running another mileage sale and it is their second best sale ever. Last year, we saw a 100% bonus for Black Friday and I honestly don’t know if they will run that again this year or not. But, if you need miles now, you can buy with a 50% bonus!

Aegean is in the Star Alliance and is my favorite award partner to book business class tickets between the US and Europe, thanks to the great rate of 45,000 miles for one way in business! When Aegean does run a bonus, it is normally for just 40%. Now, you can get up to a 50% bonus when buying miles!

Invalid request error occurred.

Aegean normally charges 25€ per thousand miles. This promotion runs until August 8, 2019 at 23:59 (Greece time). With a minimum purchase of 2,000 miles, you will receive a bonus of 50% of the miles purchased.

Yes, that is more expensive than what other airlines charge with their buy mile promos but there are a couple of reasons you may want to do this.

Tip: Make sure you use a credit card that has travel as a bonus category! Aegean processes these award sales themselves so you can get bonus points for the purchase!

Cheap Award Redemptions

My favorite Aegean award that I have redeemed for many times is business class between the US and Europe for just 45,000 miles (or first class for 60,000 miles). That means you could buy enough miles with this promo to fly on Lufthansa First Class for $1,280 one way (plus taxes and fees). Though, you can buy LifeMiles for less and they do not pass on fuel surcharges but I find booking awards easier with Aegean than LifeMiles.

Of course, I am not saying that everyone should do that, especially since Lufthansa only releases their first class space to partners 2 weeks before the flight. But it does show you what is possible!

If you wanted to go the business class route, you could fly something like Turkish for just $836 (plus taxes) one way. While it is possible to purchase Turkish business class tickets from certain European cities to the US for a little more than that, this gives you more flexibility.

Tip: If redeeming for Lufthansa in premium cabins, choose to depart FROM Europe to the US as the surcharges will be much less than starting in the US.

You could also redeem for some incredible award like Trinidad to Tel Aviv for just 45,000 miles in business as well – if you could find the award space!

Great Way to Top Up

With the ability to earn 50% bonus miles with even the purchase of 1,000 miles, this is a great way to top up your account at a cheaper price. You can purchase up to 50,000 miles per year (not counting the bonus) so you could buy any amount from 1,000 miles up to 50,000 miles.

Note: If you have never credited a flight to Aegean Miles & Bonus, you are limited to buying up to 30,000 miles in a year. But, that will still give you the 15,000 point bonus for the 45,000 miles needed for business class.

Save Your Marriott Points

If you would normally transfer Marriott points, this allows you to save those points for a different redemption option as opposed to transferring to Aegean. Right now, Marriott is the only transfer partner of Aegean so being able to accrue more Aegean miles while saving Marriott points can be a great deal.

  • Hi Charlie, when I try and search award travel on Aegean’s website it doesn’t list any business class seats only economy. How do I book a business class from OZH to SAN using Turkish and United partnerships with Aegean? Route is OZH to IST to SFO to SAN (United flight). Thanks

    • Hi, Michael – first, Aegean only allows one connection at the zone cost of miles. So, for US to Europe, it is 45K miles in biz but you can only have one connection (which, in this case, would be IST).
Next, you may be better off searching first on United’s website and then calling Aegean if it doesn’t show up when searching Aegean. If you don’t currently have the 45K miles needed, it will not let you search for business anyway. The phone support is pretty good with Aegean.
