Cool New SPG Auction for Runners – Run with an Olympian

One of the auction types I love from SPG are the ones that are for runners! The running market for travel is very strong considering how many great races there are worldwide and how many hundreds of thousands of people travel for them. So, it only makes sense for a brand like SPG to market towards runners (like they do with their Westin properties and their Running Concierge).

This latest SPG auction for runners is a cool one but would most likely only work if you already had plans to be in Asia. But, then again, given how we are into miles and points something like this could be a good reason to burn some miles and use it is an excuse to visit Japan! Here are the details.

“Master Class: enjoy a special day of fitness and food with Olympic marathon runner Ari Ichihashi. Start by running the designated Rokko Island 5km running course with Ichihashi. Then relax in a hot spring before enjoying spa cuisine lunch course at Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers with Ichihashi to discuss a healthy diet. Finish your day at the Marché with the vegetable sommelier.”

There are 6 packages, 2 tickets per package. The bidding is low – only at 2,000 points. It could, of course, go up but the last running one in Asia ended up going for the listed price!

Here is what you get, if you win the auction:

• Running session for two (2) at the Rokko Island 5km running course with Ari Ichihashi on Friday, 22 September 2017
• Access for two (2) at Hamaizumi hot spring
• Spa cuisine lunch course for two (2) at Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers
• Two (2) discount coupons at the Marché at the Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel and Towers

So, there are no hotel stays associated with this but it would definitely be a great outing if you going to be in Japan. And, as I mentioned, if this is something that really interests you, use it as a reason to plan a little getaway to Japan! Japan is very beautiful and this would be an impressive part of your trip for sure!
