Registration is still open for the 2020 Boston Marathon but 2020 Boston Marathon hotels are filling up fast so snag a room now – even if you don’t know if you are in yet.

Last week, registration for the 2020 Boston Marathon began. As with the past few years, it is a rolling process starting with those who cleared their Boston Marathon qualifying time by 20 minutes or more and then moving to “slower” times.

2020 Boston Marathon Hotels Are Filling Up – Book Now!

I will be doing another post this week or next week with some good, remaining award options as well.

Even though registration is not closed yet and you have not received your acceptance e-mail, now is the time to book your 2020 Boston Marathon hotels! Hotels are already filling up fast with many no longer taking award reservations. If you want to secure a hotel near the finish line, you want to book it now!

The good thing is that, with most hotels, you can cancel anytime in the next few months (right up to 48 hours before with some hotels). This means you can always cancel if you do not get in for the 2020 Boston Marathon. But, you are better off securing a room now in case you do get in.

Of course, those who qualified with 20 minutes clearance and even 10 minutes clearance have a reasonable expectation of getting in. But, for everyone else, it is still a good idea to lock in a room now – as long as you do not book a prepaid/advanced rate! If you book one of those rates, you cannot cancel it at no charge!

This means you want to look for something like a standard rate, which are more expensive but do offer flexibility. Booking with points should also give you that flexibility (though, again, check the terms to be sure!).

But, be a good fellow-runner – if you book now and do not get in for 2020, make sure you cancel that room as soon as possible for those that did get in and are looking for a hotel!

Good luck to all 2020 Boston Marathon registrants! Remember this – if you wait too long, it could be harder to get a hotel room near the finish than it was to get into the Boston Marathon! 🙂
