While the cameras in smartphones have really improved over the years, there are still plenty of places you would rather have an action camera with you. Not only are action cameras built to handle falls/water better but they also are built from the ground up to give the end user what you want for action. So, here are some Black Friday deals on action cameras for you!
Black Friday Deals on Action Cameras
There are three main players in the action camera market – GoPro, Insta360, and DJI. You really cannot go wrong with any of them but they each have different things that make them great for people.
GoPro HERO 10
GoPro has continued to improve on their Hero series each year and this year brings a faster processor with new resolution and frame rates. It is as tough as ever with great image stabilization. The GoPro HERO 10 is on sale for $50 off and different retailers offer different things. Here they are:
- Amazon – $449 with dual battery charger, an extra battery and a sleeve+lanyard
- Best Buy – $449 with $50 Best Buy gift card
- GoPro – $399 with 1 year GoPro subscription and accessory bundle (make sure you cancel your subscription before renewal!)
Insta360
Insta360 has an innovative way of hitting the action camera market. I have a couple of Insta360 cameras – the Insta360 X and the Insta360 GO 2. The “X” models shoot 360 degrees and you can edit it after the fact to create a nice video with your own pans to the various parts of the field of view. Also, you can use the selfie stick to hold the camera away from you and it looks like someone is following you with a camera since you cannot see the stick – very cool.
The Insta360 GO 2 (check my review here) is an awesome camera for adventure and travel. It is extremely tiny and magnetic so you can literally take it anywhere. Since I reviewed it, it now has 64GB of storage version.

DJI
DJI released their first action camera a couple of years ago that resembled a GoPro. They also had their DJI Pocket and now they have upgraded versions of both but their Action 2 no longer looks like a GoPro.
These are not the ones on sale this weekend, though. The DJI Action 2 Dual Screen Combo is at $519 and the DJI Pocket 2 Creator Combo is at $499.
The two DJI products that are on sale are drones – and they are very different. The DJI FPV drone is an exciting piece of tech. FPV is a first person vision drone which gives some unique perspectives when in the hands of a skilled pilot. The regular price is $1,299 but it is on sale for just $999 right now.
The other drone on sale is the DJI Mini Fly More Combo for just $299. This is missing some key features that the Mini 2 has (like RAW photos and 4K recording, as well as a quality controller) but that is a killer price. Not only that, but it is 249 grams which means it does not need to be registered in many countries, including the US and Canada.
