When it rains, it pours! That could be said right now for American Express Membership Rewards as they have just unlocked 12 new transfer bonuses to partners. Let’s take a look.

New American Express Transfer Bonuses

There are a bunch of new transfer bonuses here and some are pretty good! Here they are:

  • British Airways Avios – Get 25% more Avios when you transfer Membership Rewards® points from 9/1/2022 to 9/30/2022
  • Aer Lingus Avios – Get 25% more Avios when you transfer Membership Rewards® points from 9/1/2022 to 9/30/2022
  • AeroMexico Premier Points – Get 20% more Premier Points when you transfer Membership Rewards® points from 9/1/2022 to 9/30/2022

  • Hilton Honors – Get 30% more Hilton Honors Points when you transfer Membership Rewards® points from 9/1/2022 to 9/30/2022
  • Marriott Bonvoy – Get 20% more Marriott Bonvoy points when you transfer Membership Rewards® points from 9/1/2022 to 10/31/2022
  • Qantas Frequent Flyer – Get 20% more Qantas Points when you transfer Membership Rewards® points from 9/1/2022 to 9/30/2022
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club – Get 30% more Flying Club Miles when you transfer Membership Rewards® points from 9/1/2022 to 9/30/2022

As you can see, all of these transfer bonuses expire at the end of September except Choice and Marriott.

Now, I am always a fan of Air Canada Aeroplan transfer bonuses, regardless of the percentage. They are rare enough from Amex that I like to take advantage when they come. Unfortunately, I had already transferred out what I had needed a couple of months ago and really do not want to transfer any right now, especially with the new award chart.

LifeMiles is one that sees somewhat regular transfer bonuses and they often have some really cheap deals on buying miles so this is not one I would rush to transfer either.

Avios also see somewhat regular transfer bonuses and they get as high as 30% or even 40% (though not so often there) so I am not too excited about 25% – not right now, anyway!

Air France KLM Flying Blue is an interesting one since they have regular sales in certain cabins to/from certain destinations so this transfer bonus could make it even more lucrative. They actually have some pretty good ones right now that you can see here.

Marriott and Hilton and Choice? No, I never transfer to the hotel programs so that’s a non-starter for me.

But, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is one that can be very helpful. Check out this post for some of the sweet spots using Flying Club miles.

Bottom Line

For the month of September, American Express has a whole bunch of transfer bonuses going on. To access them, head over here to American Express and login, and select to Transfer Points from the Redeem option. Remember, once the points are transferred to one of these programs, you cannot transfer them back!
