I have written a little about Qatar’s new Qsuites, or the double bed in business class. It is really a phenomenal hard product and I cannot wait to try it out on a real flight. For anyone else that wants to try it, it appears that Qatar has set a date for their first Doha – New York City flight with the new Qsuites!
Qatar Is Bringing Their Fantastic New Qsuites to New York in December

According to One Mile at a Time, that date is December 16, 2017. This date has a decent chance of getting pushed back as Qatar does change things around quite a bit, but this is the first indication we have had of such a date. Since I believe they were first talking about putting their Qsuites-equipped 777 on the New York route in October, it is a good chance that December will be their timeframe.
The Qatar Qsuites will be flying to JFK in a few months!
Qatar has several flights from Doha to JFK and the Qsuites will first be rolling out on QR 701 / 702. Here is the flight schedule for this flight:
- QR 701 Departs Doha for JFK at 8:00AM and arrives at 2:15PM
- QR 702 Departs JFK for Doha at 9:05PM and arrives at 5:35PM the next day
If you use AA miles, it will cost you 70,000 miles for a one way flight. This is probably one of the best deals for business class flights out of the Middle East to the US as the new Qsuites with their unique double bed in business class is better than Etihad or Emirates.
Of course, even if you aren’t booked on the QR 701 or QR 702 for after December, Qatar has the already-excellent business class flying that route on their A350. I have flown that last year and will be flying it again in a couple of months. If you are flying by yourself, that is a pretty great way to go as well.
I have a few trips coming up between Europe and the US in the next several months and have yet to book some of the tickets so I am hoping for another great deal out of Athens on Qatar. That is now officially my favorite routing from Europe to the US!
