Here are the details about this better Delta Gold Amex offer:

• Earn a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new Card within your first 4 months.

The only difference between the two offers is that you will receive an extra $50 Delta statement credit. This is most likely because Amex is not paying an affiliate the referral cash for this application. Instead, Amex is passing the savings along to the customer.
