Hyatt and Chase run a promo from time to time that I have really come to enjoy. It has been to spend $2,500 or $3,000 within 3 months on the Chase Hyatt card and earn 5,000 Hyatt bonus points on top of the points you earn for spending.
I ALWAYS register for any promotion I ever receive because you never know if something comes up and you are able to fulfill the requirements of the promotion! With this promotion, I do try to meet it. I like receiving the bonus and this is the chief way I accumulate Hyatt points. For this promo this time around, the spending must be done between October 1 – December 31, 2013.
Is $3,000 in 3 months a lot of money to spend on one card? Yes. Do you have to forgo other point earning opportunities on other cards while you do this? Possibly. Is it still worth it? Yes. Here are the reasons I choose to chase this promo:
- Receiving 5,000 bonus points is a great deal
- With manufactured spending, it is not hard to hit the required spending amount
- I do not like to transfer Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt as I choose to use them for United
- There are no “unique” bonus categories for this card (for example, 3x points on Hyatt is one thing, but the 2x categories are places I choose to use other cards – restaurants, airfare, rental cars)
