Once again, the car rental companies are try to use their customers to transport a huge amount of vehicles out of Florida. It is really a genius thing – rather than paying their own drivers to take these vehicles to random locations around the US, charge customers a small amount of money to do the same thing. That way, they are still making money and a lot of customers are able to get a break.
Rent A Car From Florida To Anywhere From Only $9 A Day!
This is a great deal on a rental for up to 21 days! Obviously, it is the better deal for those of you on the border of Florida, but it can still work for those who may need a longer term rental and are willing to drive. Even with the gas, the rental cost may still equal that of 1 week – but you get it for 3 weeks!
This is not something offered by every rental car company. Here are the ones that are having these promos and the accompanying details.
My Experience
This could be a great deal if you want to pretty much pay the minimum price for a car for 3 weeks. I took advantage of this last year paying just a little over $200 for a minivan for 3 weeks! I was at a wedding in Ohio so I flew down to Jacksonville (one of the closest, major airports with good deals) on a cheap flight (paid about $60) and met my dad and we drove the car back up together. We needed a rental anyway while we were in the US and prices on minivans for 3 weeks were just insane! This, including the gas and flight, was much cheaper.
This could be a great way to take a mini-vacation, fly down to Florida for a couple of days, and then drive back to wherever!
Alamo
Alamo offers the three weeks instead of the two weeks that you would get with Avis. They also have far more participating locations than Avis offers so this offer truly can be used to drop off just about anywhere.
- Cars (Economy – Full-size) – $9.95 per day
- SUVs – $19.95 per day
- Mini-Van – $24.95 per day
- Valid for one-way rentals reserved by May 31, 2015, for travel from April 1 – May 31, 2015
- Minimum one-day/maximum 21-day rental required
- Offer cannot be combined with any other discounts, coupons or promotional rates

Avis
Avis offers the one-way rental deal from Florida for only two weeks of a rental instead of three weeks. Depending on your car needs, that still may be okay for what you are looking for. Here are the terms:
- Cars (Economy – Full-size) – $9.95 per day
- SUVs (Intermediate – Elite) – $19.95 per day
- Mini-Van – $24.95 per day
- Pick-up – $9.95 per day
- Valid for checkout between 4/1/15 and 6/30/2015 for rentals returned at northeast and piedmontlocations
- Rates are non-discountable; they may not be combined with any other AWD number, coupon, promotion or offer The system may allow you to enter a code, but you will risk the rental being repriced at walk-up prices the day of the rental should the rep pull the code.
- Rates require a minimum 1- to maximum 14-consecutive-day rental period
- Please reference AWD #S705900 when you reserve
- Website for more information
Avis is somewhat restricted in the cities they allow the returns to take place in. They also have the shortest rental period of the agencies offering these deals. However, being able to get an elite SUV for $19.95 is a pretty great deal – as is getting a pick-up for only $9.95 per day.
Enterprise
The deal for Enterprise is the same as it is for Alamo.
- Cars (Economy – Full-size) – $9.95 per day
- SUVs – $19.95 per day
- Mini-Van – $24.95 per day
- Valid for one-way rentals reserved by May 31, 2015, for travel from April 1 – May 31, 2015
- Minimum one-day/maximum 21-day rental required
- Offer cannot be combined with any other discounts, coupons or promotional rates
- Offer not available at all airports – see the link for the cities excluded

National
Pro Tip: If you have the American Express Platinum card (or other membership deals), you will get a discount that can be applied on top of this deal as well as coupons. Even though the coupons are not supposed to work, mine did. Before you rent your car from National, check out this post to get Executive Emerald status. Having Executive status allows you to choose any car in their aisles (except those reserved for their highest tier) at the $9.95 price – a steal! This is how I got a minivan (or I could have selected a big SUV).
National also has the same details and terms as Avis and Enterprise. The maximum rental time is 21 days. While this also has the language against coupons and discounts, I have been able to apply a coupon that is publicly available on the National rental car site.
- Cars (Economy – Full-size) – $9.95 per day
- SUVs – $19.95 per day
- Mini-Van – $24.95 per day
- Valid for one-way rentals reserved by May 31, 2015, for travel from April 1 – May 31, 2015
- Minimum one-day/maximum 21-day rental required
- Offer cannot be combined with any other discounts, coupons or promotional rates
- Website to reserve this deal
- To rent for the full three weeks, the cost with taxes is $274 for any size car (except for premium/luxury)
Summary
I have National Executive status which gave me an additional $20 off the rental. It also offers some additional perks, so if you have Executive status (which you can get through the American Express Platinum card), go with National to get the best deal.
When it comes to insurance for these rentals, the insurance with cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred 31 days or less, so it is a great choice. If you would rather use your Amex card, you can sign-up for the insurance that will give you great coverage for this length of a rental as well.. It costs $24.95 per rental (for the whole period – not per day) and will cover more than the 21 days needed here. For more information on that, check the website here.
If someone grabbed one of those half off Alamo $50 GC today, will it be useful or not for this deal?
That is a good idea. I know to use them, you have to enter a particular code/coupon number. I’m not sure if that would exclude this offer or not. Someone could certainly try and see since it would show up at the time of the reservation.
Thanks for this post. I have Emerald club Executive status that i got through a mastercard promo link. I need a minivan for a one way rental from MCO. What do you think the chances of me getting one through the Executive aisle if i reserve a full size? Thanks!
It would likely depend on when you are renting it. If it is in the May timeframe, I would think your chances are pretty good. In fact, minivans are probably not the most sought after for this promo given the extra gas costs over the cars. When I rented mine last year, I saw no fewer than 10 minivans in the Executive aisle. Of course, if you absolutely needed it, you could always reserve one at the higher price and then cancel it at the counter if there are minivans available. Just tell them that you needed the van but you wanted a backup in case there was not one available.
Thanks. I’m renting starting on April 7.
Florida needs to hold onto a few, I was checking rentals in mid-April in Orlando and the quotes were really high. I caught a special from Dollar for an SUV for $199 for the week (before all the added costs of course). Other than that even compacts were around $400 or more.
Wow! I guess they must have already emptied out the inventory they needed for those dates. I would imagine that Orlando would have the higher rates/limited availability for April since a lot of snow birds may fly down in the winter and drive up in the spring.
awesome advice. i just booked a ticker later this month. A 1 way to orlando. I’ll be picking up a car at enterprise and dropping it off at Atlanta. $9/day. thanks!
