A new Southwest sale came out today that is valid for travel this fall and into the winter of 2023! This is the first sale that has stretched this far so if you want to try to lock in some lower prices for trips in early 2023, now may be the time to do that!

Here are the details for the Southwest sale for summer and fall!
- Purchase from August 16 through August 26, 2022, 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
- Travel valid September 6, 2022 through February 15, 2023. Interisland Hawaii travel is excluded.
- Travel blacked out November 17 through 29, 2022 and December 15, 2022 through January 9, 2023.
- Except as otherwise specified, continental U.S. travel is valid Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
This new sale runs from September 6 – February 15. This is one of the widest sales from Southwest in a while and the first one to extend beyond December 15! This means it is a great time to book some cheaper flights for next year now!
This is also the time of year when there are more blackouts than ever, thanks to the incredibly popular Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year travel periods.
The prices for airfare this year have gone up due to a combination of factors (fuel prices, shrinking schedules due to staffing issues, seeking profits, etc). While these sale prices are not as cheap as normal, this is a great time to buy with Southwest because you can always cancel your flights later for free – and get your points back or your cash fare back as a credit that will not expire!
Check Your Already-Booked Reservations For Price Difference
So, now is the time to search for your tickets within this sale and see if you have a better price available now than when you had booked it. If the price has dropped, you simply select to change the flight and look at the same dates and flights again. Once you go through and confirm, you will receive a refund of the difference in miles and the cash for the taxes will be transferred for the new ticket.
In 1 Minute, You Can Have Your Points Back!
The whole process takes less than 60 seconds and you could save a lot of money or points! If you had booked your ticket in the past using cash, you will receive a refund in the form of a credit that is usable for 1 year from the time you originally booked the ticket. If you booked it with points, you will receive the points back in your account for the difference.
