Hyatt plans to open 40 hotels with almost 7,000 rooms on the West Coast over the next couple of years. They will include a Park Hyatt, Andaz, and many more brands to cover the wide range of customers.

One of the biggest knocks against Hyatt over the years has been the size of their footprint. Compared to hotel behemoths like Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham, they just don’t match up.

However, they have been working very hard to rectify that, first with things like acquisitions and partnerships and also opening new properties at a good clip. Yesterday, they announced that they will be growing their West Coast presence by almost 50% by the year 2021. Here is a breakdown of what is coming and where.

The states of California, Washington, and Oregon are the ones that will be getting these properties, with a total of almost 7,000 rooms at these 40 locations. The largest will be there Hyatt Regency in Portland.

Takeaway

As you can see, this list is heavy with Hyatt House and Hyatt Place properties. Having stayed at many of those around the US, there is a nice appeal for those that need longer term places for work, for anyone looking for a nice, neat, and functional hotel, and also for families.

Of course, we like the luxury of the Park Hyatt brand and the upscale yet local feel of the Andaz, but I think there is a nice overall mix of the properties opening up. I don’t think that there are that many other places right now that would call for a Park Hyatt on the West Coast.
