For a limited time, you can get the top tier National Executive Elite status for free! Not only that, but you can get 1 free rental day after one rental!

This offer has popped up every year or so and MilesTalk has pointed out that it is back again! While rental car status may not be as valuable to some as airline status, there is a lot that having top tier status can do for you! Here is what you need to do.

I have had various car rental statuses over time, many of them as perks of a credit card. However, one of my all-time favorite car rental status levels has been the National Executive Elite status. This is the top level from National and normally requires 25 rentals or 85 rental days to receive yet here is how you can get National Executive Elite status – for free!

I have absolutely loved having National Executive Elite status. It has given me some fantastic car rentals (since you get to select the car from a different aisle than Executive members) as well as getting some very good customer service that has been the best I have ever had from a car rental company.

Plus, Get a Free Rental Day!

To make it even better, if you rent and pay with an Amex cardbefore February 29, 2020, you will receive 5 credits. As an Executive Elite member, that is enough for a free rental car day. That free rental expires by the end of the year.

From the website: “After enrolling, pay for your first rental with any American Express® Card and earn five Emerald Club Credits toward a future rental day. Rental day offer is valid at participating worldwide locations.”

One extra thought – cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve comes with primary car rental insurance but American Express cards only provide secondary coverage. If you do want to use an Amex card for this and want the primary, it will cost you $20 per rental (up to 21 days). You need to enroll in this coverage and it will kick in every time you have a rental charge on that card.

  • I think this may have ended early. I am getting a message that says the special offer is no longer available.

      • Thanks for letting me know and glad it worked! I wonder – were you signed-in to a different account before you had tried it the first time?

        • I am wondering if it was a temporary glitch. Now when I click on your link it is working fine without being in incognito mode. More likely it was an error on my end. Either way thanks for the tip. I am starting a new job that will require a bit of travel so this is really helpful.

          • As long as we’re on the topic of car rental. Do you still prefer National over Hertz? Also, do you always choose car rental credit vs frequent flyer miles? Thanks really enjoy your blog.
