I guess you can call it “gear day” here at Running with Miles – earlier with the FreeWavz earphones, and the eBags deal, and now a GPS watch? 🙂 Well, this is a website that brings together the interests of running and travel so a little balance is good!

Garmin Forerunner 910XTThe Garmin Forerunner 910XT is one of my all-time favorite GPS watches. The construction is solid, the watch feels good on the wrist, the display is large enough to display all of your favorite metrics clearly, and the battery life on it is unbelievable (over 20 hours)!

I have moved on to the Garmin Forerunner 620 watch, but that was not because of any regret with the 910. In fact, it was one of the hardest GPS moves I have made (and I have made a lot!) I simply changed because there were a few things with the 620 that I was curious to try out. But, when deals like this come around, I am always thinking about jumping back with a 910XT!

There is one more point about this watch that people love – the swimming metrics it provides. It is designed to be a multi-sport watch (though I only used it for running) and the swimming side of it really works well. I am not a swimmer, but from what I have read, the metrics give a lot of feedback to help you in perfecting your swim style.  If you swim, this could also be the watch for you.

Garmin Forerunner 910XT – $299

Back in May, the 910XT was actually on sale for the same price (new – except it also had a $50 rebate). This price is for a manufacturer refurbished model. Let me say – I have no problem whatsoever purchasing a Garmin that has been refurbished. Everyone I know has had great success with them and they also have a 1 year warranty.

Set to expire July 17th (tomorrow), the Garmin Forerunner 910XT (manufacturer refurb) is ringing up at only $299 from the Garmin Factory Outlet. That is a discount of $100 from the new price! Now, there is a $50 mail-in rebate, but it says on the rebate that it is for “new” watch purchases. If you are going to buy this watch no matter what, send in the rebate to see what happens. Otherwise, you may want to call them to see if it would be applicable.

It will more than likely come down again in price next year (from the $399 retail), but that can honestly be said about any piece of electronics! If this is a watch that you have wanted, you may not find a better price than this for quite a while. To check out a fantastic, in-depth review, head on over to DC Rainmaker’s site for the review.

Don’t forget the points!

Factoryoutlet.com actually has several portal links you can use to get miles with your purchase. The best is American Airlines at 2 miles per dollar. For more, check out EVRewards list here.
