Last month, Delta and American Express rolled out the first ever credit card made from a Boeing 747, known as “the Queen of the Skies.” This has been incredibly popular with current and new cardholders. Here is a video showing how the Delta Amex card was made from the Boeing 747.

To start with, the aircraft used for this new project was Delta aircraft #6307. According to Amex, the new card is made of 25% of the metal that came from this aircraft.
Delta Ship #6307 was retired from service back in 2017 and moved out to the “Boneyard” for airplanes in Tucson, AZ. This video from American Express shows the process that happened to take that plane and convert the metal into the card that has become incredibly popular with aviation geeks.
While this card was available to current cardholders to request, the card is no longer available to current cardholders. This means that the only way a person can get the limited edition Delta Amex 747 credit card (which is only available as the Delta Reserve card and Delta Reserve Business card) is to apply for a new card account. This card is only available until August 3!
For sure, most people will not apply for a new card just to get a card like this. But, there will be some that will not mind doing so in order to get a piece of aviation history like this. While some people will enjoy whipping this card out to pay, I am sure there will be many that will stick it in a drawer when it arrives and never so much as tap it so as to preserve it.

Now, these offers do not come with Medallion Qualifying Miles like they normally do! But, they both come with 100,000 miles or 110,000 miles which are worth at least 1 cent per point. That easily will get you back your money on the annual fee.
Bottom Line
The last time a specially made card was so popular that it went scarce had to have been the Chase Sapphire Reserve when it launched. Metal cards have been a thing for a while now but this is the first time that such a card has been made from airplane metal!
If you want to get one, time is running out and it is now only available for new customers!
