The Citi Premier card is one of those cards. Not only can the points be transferred to any of 11 different airlines (and 1 hotel program), but you can also use the points towards actually paying for travel and with that you will get a value of 1.25 cents per point ($750 in value).

However, if you also have the Citi Prestige card (more premium card with higher annual fee), it will also unlock the value of those points when used to purchase AA/US Airways flights – 1.6 cents per points! If you were to go that route, you would see a wonderful $960 in actual value on purchased flights!

If not interested in travel, you can also redeem for a variety of gift cards at a value of 1 cent per point, meaning you will get $600 worth of gift cards.

Getting The Offer

This offer for 60,000 points can only be found through the link above (not an affiliate link) as the regular, public offer is for 50,000 points. If you are interested in going for this offer, now is the time to do it! There is no annual fee the first year and the earning structure on the card is very useful – 3x points on travel and gas, 2x points on dining, and entertainment and 1 point on everything else.

The spending is a little bit more for this offer than the regular offer. You need to spend $3,500 in 3 months vs the $3,000 in spending required for the 50,000 point offer.

To read a great comparison between the Citi Premier and the workhorse Amex Premier Rewards Gold card, check out this post. It gives you a good look at what the Citi Premier can do.

If you want a card that gives you point options in programs that are not typical transfer partners, this is a great card. If you want a card that gives you great value for purchasing travel, this is a great card. If you want it, don’t wait!

  • FWIW, I tried two different browsers to sign up and could not get the app to send, so gave up and just called the number to be approved by phone. After being sent to another departmen cause I did not get an immediate approval, I was approved and should get the card in time for the Labor Day holiday and spending on some hotels at 3x points!
