There is a new Amex Offer out this morning on targeted American Express cards that is one you need to add to your card! While you may not currently have plans to fly to Australia, that route has been seeing some awesome deals pop up over the past couple of months and if one of those is on Qantas, it is about to get a whole lot sweeter with this Amex Offer!

• Must spend by 6/30/2019.
• Purchase must be made on Qantas’ US website in USD.
• Flights must originate in US

What to Know About This Qantas Amex Offer

Ok, here are a few things to take note of with this Qantas Amex Offer. First of all, you don’t need to fly before June 30, 2019. That is just the date that the charge must be made on the credit card you added the offer to. The flight date can really be anytime at all. This means you have 3 full months to find some great Qantas deals.

The second thing is that this is only good for flights purchased from the Qantas US website and the charge must be made in US dollars. Not only that, but the flight must originate in the US. This is always a kind of bummer as it eliminates the possibility of finding some really cool flights for less in other parts of the world. Still, for US cardholders, this is not that big of a deal (and it is only available for US cardholders).

Lastly, strangely enough, I only had this offer on my Blue Sky card, my Hilton Ascend card, and my Marriott Bonvoy card. It wasn’t on any of my Membership Reward earning cards. But, one person who did have it on that card confirmed that it gave the offer of 15,000 Membership Reward points instead of cash back. Obviously, I would rather have that!

Good Deal?

I found several random flights and dates from LAX to airports in Australia with Qantas for around that $700 mark. That means that any flight you find like that automatically will become a $550 flight in the end with this Amex Offer. Check this Google Flights link and play around with dates and airports.

While that isn’t a great flight deal to Australia (there were flights from many smaller, regional airports earlier this year for around $640), if prices drop again and Qantas matches them, this could turn into a great way to buy tickets for 2 and get a $150 discount!

Finally, Qantas is actually a very comfortable airline, even in economy, so this would be a nice deal to take advantage of if you are going to make the journey in economy. It is a hard one but one that I have made several times so I can tell you that it is totally worth it for when you arrive in Australia! 🙂
