TripAdvisor is trying to steer more people towards their hotel booking engine and hotel review services. To do that, they are giving a free $50 Amazon gift card if you book your hotel through the TripAdvisor app and write a review. Here are the details.

Here are the details for this free $50 Amazon gift card promotion:

  • Book your next hotel on the TripAdvisor mobile app using a valid US billing address
  • Minimum $150 spend before taxes and fees
  • Be sure to complete your stay, then submit your review by November 30, 2016.
  • Once your review is published and we’ve confirmed your stay, we’ll email you a code worth $50 for use on Amazon.com.
  • Limit of one (1) Amazon.com Gift Card per person during the promotional period.

Here is how they say to get the apps and make the booking:

  1. Visit the App Store, Windows Store or GooglePlay on your phone or mobile device
  2. Search for “TripAdvisor” then download the free app
  3. Open the app, then find your ideal hotel
  4. Make sure you book directly on TripAdvisor — look for our logo in the list of pricing options a blue and green text on a black background
  5. Select your ideal room, then complete your booking on the TripAdvisor mobile app

Make sure you compare your pricing for your chosen hotel to see if you are paying the same amount as other sites! But, this could be a nice way to get a free $50 Amazon gift card. Also, note that the terms say it cannot be earned for hotel stays owned, operated, or affiliated with Marriott and its brands.

  • Just a clarification. Terms exclude customers who have never made a booking on tripadvisor.

    Only users who have previously booked a hotel on TripAdvisor through “Book on TripAdvisor”. Previous booking(s) must have been made with the same email address used for the booking qualifying for the TripAdvisor app $50 Amazon.com offer. 1st time bookings do not qualify for the TripAdvisor app $50 Amazon.com offer.

    Weird that they don’t mention it on the main page of the offer.
