Credit Card With Easiest Sign-Up Bonus

Alaska Airlines
Written by Charlie

Credit cards typically offer generous sign-up bonuses but they come with mandatory spending thresholds to earn those bonus points. For the most part, those thresholds are not too severe – mostly in the range of $1,000 – $3,000 over the space of three months (with outliers in both the spending category and the time allowed to do the spending).

Credit Card With Easiest Sign-Up Bonus

Disclaimer: I do not receive a commission for this card

It is always nice to get a card that requires very low minimum spending. Cards like that are the US Airways Mastercard that requires a simple purchase (and payment of the $89 annual fee) to earn the sign-up bonus. But, even better than that is the card that gives you the bonus upon opening the account! That’s right – no spending necessary. Just apply for the card and once the card account is open, you will receive the bonus miles within a few days.

That card is the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card. This card offers 25,000 miles after account approval. Sure, the bonus isn’t like the big ones we are used to seeing this year, but it is still enough for a roundtrip ticket in the US (including Alaska) and can be used on many partners for one-way travel as well. Here are some of the positive details about the card:

  • Issued by Bank of America (gives you a chance to spread some of the application love around instead of focusing only on Barclaycards, Chase, and American Express)
  • Can be applied and approved for over and over (many people apply for this card multiple times to continue to get the bonus and build up their accounts)
  • Comes with a great companion pass (requires you to pay $118 for the companion ticket but can be used on an Alaska Airlines flight – including Hawaii)
  • No spending required!
  • Companion pass is issued after account opening (most cards’ companion passes are not issued until the start of the second year)

The card does come with an annual fee of $75 and the possibility that you will not be approved for the Signature Visa but one of the lower options that does not give the same point earning or the companion pass (but does have a $50 discount on airfare). However, if you have a good credit score (700+), you should not have a problem getting approved for the Signature Visa.

  • Can you explain what you mean by “Can be applied and approved for over and over”? Does this mean I need to cancel my current account, or just open new ones? How far apart do you need to space the account requests?
