I have done my share of waiting in line on Black Friday for different things. It is not that much fun! Fortunately, this year, I don’t even have the option of going to a store on Black Friday (being in Greece). 🙂
Fortunately, for those who would rather stay at home, the last few years have seen the move towards online sales that rival in-store sales. So, if you are like me and millions of others who will shop online, how do you do that and rake in as many points/miles as possible?
To start, I use UltimateRewards shopping portal for all of my online shopping. I know there are some slightly better deals at various merchants, but since I try to build up UR points whenever possible, I just stick with them. They have some great deals on point bonuses if you shop through their portal (for more on the Ultimate Rewards shopping portal, read this previous post). Once you log-in, go to the Earn Faster tabs and shop by Merchant. You can sort by Name or by Earn Rate. I like to sort by Earn Rate so as to see the biggest stores available. Next, click on the store of your choice and follow the links through. There are some things to remember: make sure you do not have anything in your cart before you go through the link, read the terms carefully if you plan to use promo codes (as many promo codes will invalidate the bonus points), make sure you use your proper card for the most points – Sapphire Preferred and Chase Freedom through the personal site and the Ink Bold and Ink Plus for the business site.
