2011 Illinois Marathon Review

2011 Illinois Marathon Review

Introduction

I had the opportunity back in 2009 to run the inaugural Illinois Marathon and decided to go back again for the 2011 edition. In my mind, there is no higher compliment than for a marathoner to run the same marathon again – especially when the first time was for the inaugural event! I think the Illinois Marathon is one of those well-run events that got it right at their start and continue to do a good job.

The Illinois Marathon is run in Champaign, Illinois. It is large college town that is also a well kept-up town. I found the areas that we ran in were pleasant to view and enjoyable to run through.

  • Glad you enjoyed it! Let me know if you come back for another, as chambana (that’s what we here call Champaign-Urbana) is my home. I run the IL Marathon I-Challenge each year = 5K Friday night + 13.1 Saturday AM (can do full too).

    • Thanks, Mark. Oops – I realize now that I had that one published instead of saved to draft 🙂 I am definitely NOT done writing the review for that yet – much more to be said! Thanks for the comment that reminded me. I will definitely let you know if I will be back. I really like the feel of your hometown!
