They Hyatt Gold Passport system has been down for a few days and is supposed to be up today. While not up yet, find out some tips about contacting them when it comes up!

On Tuesday, Hyatt’s Gold Passport program went into a temporary shutdown while they did system maintenance. This scheduled downtime was to last through the 18th for a total of 4 days. Today, being the 19th, it was supposed to have been back up. Yet, it is still down!

According to a couple of reps, Hyatt Gold Passport is supposed to be up again around late morning/early afternoon today (the 19th). That means you are still not able to book award nights, Points+Cash nights, access your Gold Passport account, or manage your points until then. It cannot be done on the phone, online, or via social media until it is back up. More information

Tips For Getting Through When It Comes Up

When the system does come back up, I am guessing the phone lines are going to be pretty busy. If you need to make some type of booking not available online or have account questions, it may be quicker to use Facebook Messenger (they have just started using this) as not that many people may have started using it yet for contacting Hyatt. Another option is to try their Twitter team as they are pretty fast and responsive.

Do keep in mind when Hyatt Gold Passport comes back up that any points earned since December 12th will not show in your account. That will not show up until the week of the 28th (as is scheduled right now). Below is what they have to say about that:

Will I still accrue points during the system maintenance period?
Yes, you will still earn points on eligible stays, dining credits or spa services. Please note, however, that any points accrued after December 12, 2015 will not be reflected on your account until the week of December 28, 2015.

Will my points earned during this time be automatically added to my account or do I have to call?

Any points accrued after December 12, 2015 will post to your account automatically starting the week of December 28, 2015, You do not need to call a Global Contact Center, and can be assured that any points earned during this time will be credited to your account.

What Happens With Stays Starting Soon?

What happens if you have a reservation that starts tomorrow or sometime soon? They have said these types of stays will be handled on a case-by-case basis (like I have a Points+Cash reservation tomorrow but cannot access it right now – this would be handled on a case-by-case basis if I need to cancel or change it).

Summary

I certainly hope it is up soon! In this day of technology, a 4 1/2 day downtime of such a major program is really difficult to deal with. Of course, if it comes back up and everything works great, I would prefer the downtime to trying to update live and having a ton of problems. Hopefully this will be all up again soon!

  • As someone that works in IT field, it’s a bit embarrassing for a company the size of Hyatt to be down like this. They should have under promised and over delivered (like their GP program). Everyone knows in IT you always expect something to wrong…

  • Total disgrace. I now have to wait nearly Three weeks for them to credit my mid-December stay. There go my holiday plans l–was counting on those points for a holiday getaway gift. What kind of company shuts its program down during three of the highest-use weeks of the year? Yet another reason to stop staying at Hyatts.
