This giveaway is a two-part celebration – 1) Because I am really excited to be here on BoardingArea and want to give something to highlight this moment for the blog and 2) because I am really excited about the FAA’s new ruling on portable electronic devices on aircraft! Now, you can use your Kindle (or other portable electronic devices) from the moment you sit on the plane until you get off the plane!
To enter this giveaway to win this Kindle, all you need to do is to leave a comment on this post. For the fine print of the giveaway, please read below and then head down to comment!
I have not carried a book in my carry-on bag in a few years now (ever since I got my first Kindle). I never liked that I had to shut it off for about 30 -60 minutes of my flights (I flipped through a lot of Skymall catalogs!). No more of that now! If you win this Kindle, you can leave your books at home for your next flight also!
Fine Print:
- The prize for this drawing is the basic Kindle (not the Paperwhite) and it is new 🙂
- You can enter as many times as you want
- You must enter a valid e-mail address so I can notify you if you win (the e-mail addresses will not be used for anything else)
- You can enter up to 9PM Tuesday 11/5
- I will randomly draw a winner and announce it Wednesday morning, 11/6
- Your comment can be anything you want – what your favorite in-flight device is, what you would like to see on Running with Miles, if you like to run, your favorite airline – anything! Anything except foul language – keep it clean
- The final decision is mine and mine alone
- Amazon has nothing to do with this giveaway – this Kindle was purchased by me
- Have fun!
Thanks for reading and I hope to be able to help many of you run more races in more places for less!
I hate these “enter many times as you want” contests. Why? Someone with nothing to do have netter chance of winning. Person using a script can post millions of time.
Welcome to BoardingArea, Charles!
As a runner it would be cool to write about hotel gyms (hours, costs, amenities, etc.) Absolutely one of the 3 things I want in a hotel along with location and free reliable WiFi.
Hate not being able to use a kindle or ipad on the ground…. It’s about time the rule changed!
I’d like to bea reading this kindle on my next flight
I love being able to use my tablet below 10000 feet
Did you see the NYC marathon this morning?
I pretty much try to enter boarding area contest but never win ..Another try .:-)
I love Hemingway. Last week I read To Have and Have Not on my wife’s Kindle on our honeymoon. It was my first kindle book and I’m addicted – only problem is that due to our work schedules we rarely travel together, which means that in order to further fuel my new addiction I must now get my own Kindle…
Welcome to BoardingArea!!! Do you run the 4 deserts? Friends are thinking of doing Madagascar in 2014 and I’m 70% sure I’ll be going.
Welcome Charles! I love Boarding Area and frequent the site regularly. I too hate flipping through the SkyMall magazine.
I am also loving the idea of using electronic devices, and I can’t wait until my next flight to try it out!!
Welcome Charles to BoardingArea.com!!!!!
Finally! I’ll be able to read during whole flight
ThankYou for this giveaway. I have been endlessly searching the web for Christmas assistance for my children without much luck-and have decided to try my luck at winning maybe a giveaway or sweepstakes.
Winning a Kindle would cheer me up a little after hearing about United’s Award changes 🙁
awesome – welcome to BA – big fan of “real” books and always wanted to try a kindle.
It’s a total pain lugging books around. Would be nice moving to e-books 🙂
my favorite in-flight device is an iPad. But if i get a kindle, I definitely would bring the kindle rather than iPad.
Yay a kindle!
I love running, but a marathon on vacation hasn’t even crossed my mind
Welcome! My first thought was the same as Mike’s. No blitzes yet, but we’ll see.
Love my kindle, but it is very old. Besides, when my husband travels with me, I must share it. Solution? Another kindle ! Seriously, am excited about the new ruling re electronics and also sending best wishes for your blog. Ps- thnx for your generosity with the kindle.
I personally feel that it’s too bad that people (on some airlines, only some devices apply) are allowed to use devices under 10,000. First of all, it’s bad practice for safety – if there is an emergency, minor or major, I don’t want to be stuck next to the guy that just needs to finish up that one more graph. But most importantly, it’s just confusing. I know the FAA wants to be nice and leave it up to the airlines, but now everyone is going to hear this in the news, and think all electronics are allowed on all airlines in all cases. Oh well!
Welcome to BA! I would love one for the cruise we take in 2 weeks!
Congratulations, and I look forward to your blog.
I am so glad they finally approved this. Now I just need to get a Kindle and let the reading begin!
Welcome to BA!
This is an awesome way to celebrate the new rule where we are allowed to use electronic devices on planes. Flight attendants are so rude about it and now they can be quiet. Yay!
Welcome to BA — Looking to my flight next week when I can listen to music gate to gate.
I don’t run unless someone is chasing me
Coincidentally, the kindle is my favorite in flight device.
I’ve always wanted a kindle
Happy Sunday! Finalizing honeymoon plans!
Kindlicious!
Welcome to Boarding Area. I look forward to following your blog.
Welcome to Boarding Area! I love running and love combining it with travel. (Honolulu Marathon is a particular fave!)
Look forward to some reading!
Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love a kindle so my wife can stop “borrowing” mine.
Welcome!
Winner, Winner chicken dinner! 🙂
Thank you!
Would love a kindle for my upcoming trips!
I have a blackberry PlayBook I use, but I don’t read anything on it so a Kindle would be great!
kindle and travel do make great companions
Welcome Charles to BoardingArea.com! Yeah a Kindle!!!
I would love a kindle. And I like your niche area of blogging. Always nice when someone does something different instead of just regurgitating the same information as all the other blogs.
i like the combo of noise cancelling headphones and kindle — an antisocial way to lose yourself in a good book
I could use a new Kindle, I’m still on a Kindle II – with a cracked housing. Thanks.
Welcome to BA. I look forward to reading your blog. 🙂
thanks and welcome to BA! been enjoying your posts
Awesome! Thanks for the giveaway.

I would love to finally get a kindle. It’s so hard to read a book on my iphone. i swear I’m going to go cross eyed one day
I love this blog! Could you please make a list on the Top 10 destinations for runners and possibly do a coverage on what flights to use and what hotels to stay in for those places? Many thanks!
I would love to have this Kindle. I have had a Kindle keyboard for years, and the keyboard is not as indispensable as I thought it would be, and I’d like to have one without it.
I’d love to win this. My kindle died an untimely death recently. I need a new one.
I never win anything…
I found your site searching for Aegean Airlines mileage program.
I am looking forward to read your articles and win the Kindle!
Super excited about the FAA rule change – waiting for the other carriers to follow Delta and JetBlue!
would love to read under 10k feet!
I can’t wait to keep my devices on while taking off and landing.
Enjoy the ability to have lots of reading material on such a small device to pack…much better than lugging around heavy books!
Very generous of you.
My favorite airline is Singapore Airlines!
Always good to see fellow runners, and who can’t use a Kindle? Cheers!
I love all the Kindles, but this one is still the best
About time we can keep our phones on! Sky mall is about to have a lot less readers
Great timing since my son just asks for this as a gift to him
Kindle is good.
I’d like to use this kindle on my next international flight!
Thanks — Kindles are awesome. Love to travel with it!!
Haven’t had a kindle for long, gave them away myself to my parents 🙂
I’d like to use the kindle on my next international flight
It’d be a nice toy, especially below 10,000 feet now
I’d love to win this. I love the comments about sky mall…so boring yet I flip thru it numerous times!
This is just a generic comment
Hopefully we will be able to make a phone call in the near future…
Less weight and more portable than books!
Timely give away of a device that can now be used on the tarmac! Nicely done.
I would give this to my husband. He mentioned that he might like to try a Kindle on our next vacation. I’d be happy if he had one because his books and newspapers weigh down our carry on! Good luck with your blog!
Would love to win one so I can stop borrowing my wife’s.
Mine is dying, would love a replacement.
I used to be an avid triathlete and marathon runner. Reading your blog inspired me to run again. Baby steps with twice a week of running and one day of weight training. Hoping to run a marathon overseas one day. Perhaps Berlin as i would love to see the city by foot. This way, my mind would be occupied and it wouldn’t seem like I am in “pain” running 26.2 miles.
BTW, love your blog.
Thanks so much. I have great respect for triathletes – I am a terrible swimmer so that will never be me! One of my best friends just finished his first Ironman the other day and loved it. Berlin sounds like a great goal. Let me know if I could be of any help to you! Good luck.
I never fly without earplugs. They keep me from making too many new friends!
Thank you for Kindle. I would love to try it.
Love your blog and would be nice not to lug library books around with me when I travel : )
Welcome!! Ran NYC yesterday – Nice to see a blog combining my favorite things! Running and Frequent Flyer miles!
Thanks, Jeremy! Congrats on running NYC! I hope you had a great time and hit your goal time! I hope I can keep you interested and informed here!
Wow.. I hope, I can win.. 🙂
Haviing an e-reader is great; so wonderful, in fact, that my wife has claimed mine. It would be wonderful for her to have her own.
Nice to be able to fly without the electronics police bugging you.
I’m glad there’s a new running/miles blog – I love running and travelling. I’m looking forward to learning about more opportunities for both through the blog. One question I have is, if you like running marathons but your significant other does not, how can you combine running with travel well? I think my SO would have limited enthusiasm for spending a whole day watching me run, then sit, then sleep, then sit some more (not to mention the day before the marathon spent sitting and sleeping!) when he could be exploring a new city.
Would love to win this Kindle as I lost a iPad on a recent flight, IAD>DEN. Its been a lot of skymall, hemisphere, and old fashion books ever since.
Would be great to get some reading done on my next flight
Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d love to win a new Kindle!
Awesome giveaway!
There is never a wrong time to start a good reading habit! I hope the winner of the Kindle (if it isnt me) definitely puts it to good use.
Great giveaway!
look forward to using devices during takeoff
looking forward to sync my books with Kindle.
yeah, happy have a kindle on and available gate to gate
What a great addition to my carry on!
Welcome to Boarding Area!
Cool Giveaway!
Welcome to the Boarding Area!
A new Kindle would be a great gift if I should win!
I only have a nook but would love a Kindle, thanks for the giveaway!
Welcome to BoardingArea! I’ve meet several people in the group and they are a good group
Since you love marathons….how many have you done in your life?
Thanks for the giveaway. Great that we can now use under 10k feet
Just saw your about you page and answered my question of how many marathons. I can’t believe you ran 100k.. Thanks incredible!
Did I mention that this would make a really good travel present 😀
I’ll be able to read during whole flight
I like your Hotel Reviews! Thank you!
Thanks for the giveaway!
i love the running angle :O
