SPG launched a promotion in September called More For You and they have just inserted an update to the promo which applies to everyone and gives you a way to earn an easy 500 Starpoints in 90 seconds.

First off, what is 500 Starpoints worth in the whole scheme of things? It is worth around $10 and could be worth more than that in helping you to get to the level you may need for an upcoming redemption. Also, since there are no category bonuses with SPG (beyond spending at their own hotels), to get the same 500 points would otherwise require you spending $500 on an SPG card, so this also frees up your spending to do that $500 elsewhere! 🙂

To get the 500 Starpoints, all you need to do is register and update your stay preferences – that’s it! No stays required and they will even allow you to go back and register to have your changed preferences count retroactively (as long as the update to your preferences occurred between October 15 and December 15). Steps To Earn 500 Free Starpoints In 2 Minutes

1. All you need to do is enter your member number and e-mail address at this website.

2. Next, login to your SPG account and scroll down to My Stay Preferences and click Edit.

3. It doesn’t matter what you change in there – just update something and submit it. I ticked the box for my Lifestyle Preference to be Running – also No Connecting Door for good measure 🙂

That’s it! You should receive the points no more than 2-4 weeks from after the promotion ends (though they may appear earlier). So, for less than 90 seconds of your time, you have just earned about $10 worth of points and saved yourself spending $500 on your SPG card!
