US Airways Flights Now Bookable With Avios

US Airways Avios
Written by Charlie

The time has come! US Airways is officially in the Oneworld Alliance and US Airway flights are now bookable with British Airways Avios. International US Airway flights are popping errors at me, but domestic tickets do work! I have ticketed my first ticket with them!

The alternative was 25,000 US Airway miles and $30 in taxes and fees. The British Airways Avios version (on the same US Airway flights) was only 9,000 Avios and $5. Talk about an incredible deal! Now, the US Airway hub airports are open to everyone at low cost and those of you lucky enough to live near the US Airway hubs now have most of the country open to you for less than US Airways will charge (in miles) for the same flights).

The only negative right now is that US Airways first class domestic flights are coded as “first class” which means you are charged triple the amount of Avios over coach. That is 27,000 Avios for a first class ticket within 650 miles vs 25,000 US Airways miles for an economy ticket on the same route. To me, it it really not worth it for the short-haul flights.

Check this post for a map showing your new options and how to get your Avios.

So, what are you booking? 🙂
