Here comes one of the more popular triple stack opportunities! If you have been waiting for the best deal on luggage, this could be it! To get started, there are just a couple of things you need to do and this post will take you through, step-by-step.
Triple Stack Luggage Savings at eBags – Including Headphones!
Step 1 – Save Amex Offer
One of the very frequent Amex Offers has been back for a while now but it is even better than previous times. That is because you can now save $20 instead of the routine $15 or $10, but you must spend $100 to trigger that.
Since you can only save it on one card, pick the card you want to use at eBags and save that Amex Offer to that card and head to step 2.
Step 2 – TopCashBack Shopping Portal
Link: TopCashBack Portal for eBags
Before heading right to eBags.com, you want to make a quick stop at TopCashBack. Today only (August 12), they are offering 20% cash back on your purchases from eBags! That is pretty nice already but when you mix it with the other parts, it gets even better!
Do note: if you use a coupon code that is not approved of by TopCashBack, you will not get the cash back. However, they have always had it that coupons on the retailers website available for anyone would count for it. This is important to know because eBags does have a better coupon than the TopCashBack link, but you should know that they could decide to not honor the higher coupon.
Once you click the TopCashBack shopping button for eBags, you will be taken there and a 30% off code will be added for your cart.
Step 3 – Shop and Save at eBags
If you clicked the TopCashBack link, you will be greeted with a message like the one above. This means you are ready to shop and save on brands that are not excluded from this coupon. Some things like Briggs&Riley, Tumi, electronics, and others are excluded as well as Steal of the Day items and Top Deals.
If you want to try it, you can use the code that is found on the eBags home page instead – VACAY. Just remember that there is no guarantee that you will get the cash back with it though I have received cash back in the past from codes found on the retailer’s website.
Bonus Part – Headphones!
Lately, TopCashBack has been excluding tech products at eBags from getting cashback, however, they clearly say that this 20% cash back is for wireless headphones as well! At present, you can get the Bose QuietComfort 35 II on sale for $299. Combined with the 20% cash back and the Amex Offer, you are looking at a final cost of $220 – not bad!
Putting it All Together – Is it a Good Deal?
Don’t forget to sign up for eBags rewards program to earn rewards for future purchases!
Ok, now that we have our components, is this really a great deal? By itself, the eBags coupon is nothing out of the ordinary. Pretty much any day of the week they offer some kind of a coupon and that just brings many of the prices in line with what someplace like Amazon would charge for the same bag. The example I will use is the Travelpro – Crew 11 Hardside 21″ Spinner with USB Port.
Amazon’s price is $163 for the carbon grey. After the coupon code for 30% off at eBags, the eBags price is $167.99. Here is where the other stuff comes into play:
- Original price – $239
- Coupon discount – $72
- Cash back from TCB – $33
- Amex Offer credit – $20
- Total price after everything – $115
That is a $48 savings over Amazon.
However, Amazon has some stacking as well:
- Amazon price – $163
- Use a card that has 5% back (or a gift card purchased for 5%) – $8.15
- Go through TopCashBack for 7% back – $11.41
- Final price from Amazon – $143
So, the real final savings is $28 – still a good reason to go with eBags!
Of course, that is just one item but make sure you check your options!
TCB drags their feet to respond to issues and owes me hundreds of dollars. The volume of emails back and forth to obtain my payouts is ridiculous. The representatives are nasty to boot.
I maintained a detailed spreadsheet with all the information they requested, which I sent to TCB. Instead, they wanted me to complete tedious and time-consuming forms repeatedly. In my opinion, the goal is for you to go away since the payout isn’t worth the time invested. After I emailed them my chart, they banned me for failure to follow their rules of completing the time-wasting forms for each transaction. In my opinion, TCB banned me since I had a meticulous table with screenshots of all my purchases documenting their failure to pay.
The company is refusing to payout now, including the ACH transfer that TCB claims they sent and never did. They finally sent one payout, but they still owe me more.
Take a look at the complaints on the US Better Business Bureau: https://www.bbb.org/us/nj/rochelle-park/profile/coupon-service/topcashback-usa-inc-0221-90167456/complaints A quick Google search reveals this is a universal problem. TCB even has a “nudge” button on their site. Why should anyone have to remind a company they owe you money?
Instead, use Rakuten, which is more reliable. If the spend doesn’t track, I paste my order into the page and Rakuten resolves the issue promptly. No-fuss, no muss. Higher payouts are meaningless if I don’t receive the money. In my opinion, this is not how a professional company operates.
When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. The value isn’t real if you don’t receive the money.
