Traveling to Italy Soon? Here Is a Great SPG Moments Package to Check Out!

SPG Moments Package
Written by Charlie

If you are planning a visit to Italy soon, check out this SPG Moments package that could get you an incredible deal at a luxury hotel!

I have written quite a bit about SPG Moments auctions as they can be an incredible way to get hotel rooms for less than they would normally cost – as well as a bunch of other nice things as well. There is another SPG Moments auction that ends tomorrow that could be a nice way to get a top tier hotel for fewer points than you would have to use otherwise!

Here are the details about this current SPG Moments package:

  • 2 Nights at the Gritti Palace in a Giglio Prestige room
  • Daily buffet breakfast
  • Visit of the Rialto fruit market with Keith and Lynne Allan
  • Jam-making session for 2 with Keith and Lynne Allan at The Gritti Epicurean School
  • Light lunch for 2 at Club del Doge Restaurant
  • Scone-baking class for 2 at The Gritti Epicurean School
  • Afternoon tea for 2 with scone tasting at the Longhi Bar
  • Event dates – February 6 – 7, 2017

Ok, I will admit that I would not necessarily be all that interested in going to a fruit market or making jam (I am not big into that sort of thing which is why I probably also don’t know who the Allans are!). But, the part that interests me and could be of interest to you is the hotel stay.

The Gritti Palace is part of the SPG Luxury Collection and a Category 7. That means it goes for 30,000 points per night. And those 30,000 points just put you into a base room, the Giglio Prestige room is one category up from that. The current bid price? 30,000 Starpoints for the whole package!

If you were already going to Venice for that timeframe, this could be a great shot at booking this hotel for less than 2 nights would normally cost and get a bunch of extras thrown in as well. And, while I am not really a jam-maker, it would be kind of cool to participate in some class like that as well since it might not be something you normally do. Plus, how cool would it be to make scones for friends or family at home after and say you learned how to do this at cooking school in Venice? 🙂

Bidding for the SPG Moments Package

Tips on how the SPG Moments Auctions work

Here are the details about the bidding:

  • Bidding ends January 27 at 7:00AM ET (so, less than 20 hours from the time of this post)
  • No bids yet – starting bid is 30,000 points
  • Bid increment is 500 points

If you can get this for under 50,000 Starpoints, it could be a decent deal, especially since that particular class of room would cost about $1,300 for the two nights. Getting that and the rest of the package for 50,000 Starpoints would be the equivalent of getting at least 3 cents per point in value. But, be careful in bidding up too high since it can be fun! If you just get caught up in it, remember that you can still transfer 90,000 Starpoints to Southwest (via Marriott) to get the Companion Pass for 2017 and 2018 as well as have 120,000 Southwest points and 7 nights at a Marriott Category 1 – 5. Not trying to push you but just to help rein it in if things go crazy with the bidding. 🙂

Do you plan on bidding on this SPG Moments package? Or would you rather not say to other, competing bidders? 🙂
