American Express Membership Rewards is a program that had often had transfer bonuses to British Airways Avios. However, last year, they devalued the transfer ratio so the transfer bonuses were not quite as good in the end as before. But, with this new transfer bonus, you can still get more Avios for your Membership Reward points so a good value. Here is the deal and details.
Transfer Bonus of 50% From Membership Rewards to Avios
Transfer Bonus Details:
- 300 Avios = 250 Membership Rewards points with this new transfer bonus
- Membership Rewards points must be transferred in increments of 250.
- Get 50% more Avios when you transfer Membership Rewards points
- Valid through 10/10/2016
- Amex website
Bonus Value
British Airways Avios is a currency that can be very useful for short haul flights around the world (even in the US in many circumstances). They are also a currency that benefits from multiple transfer partners – American Express Membership Rewards (250:200), Chase Ultimate Rewards (1:1 ratio), SPG Starpoints (1:1 with 5K bonus when transferring 20K), and British Airways has their very own credit card with a bonus.
With a transfer bonus like this, it can be a very attractive way to get value from your Membership Reward points. I still use Avios for most of my short haul oneworld redemptions and being able to transfer them from MR at a bonus is a really good deal for me – and probably for many of you as well.
