TripAdvisor just put out their list of the top 10 airlines in the world for 2018. Looking it over, I would have to say that it is a pretty solid list! Beyond things like seat comfort, there are many other aspects to take into consideration like the quality of the food, service, amenities, and more. I thing that many of these airlines are great selections to be considered for the top 10 airlines in the world.
Top 10 Airlines in the World – According to TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor has a huge advantage when it comes to putting together a list like this. They do not have to rely on things like statistics by airlines or individual reviewers selecting their favorites based on possible preferences or service on one flight. They base these lists on the reviews of their millions of members and their reviews so it covers many flights instead of just a few.
So, here is the list of the top 10 airlines in the world, according to TripAdvisor.
- Singapore Airlines
- Air New Zealand
- Emirates
- Japan Airlines
- EVA Air
- Southwest Airlines
- Jet2
- Qatar Airways
- Azul
- Korean Air
Of that list of top 10 airlines, 3 are in the Star Alliance (Singapore, Air New Zealand, and EVA Air). Two of them are in the oneworld alliance (Japan Airlines and Qatar Airways) and just one is in the Skyteam Alliance (Korean Air).
Having flown on most of those airlines (I have not flown on Jet2 or Azul), I can say that each of these airlines deserves to be on the list. I love to see Southwest on the list for the US and definitely think they have a place on it.
Best Airlines in the World By Class of Travel
When you drill down more, here is their list of the best airlines by cabin in the world:
- Best First Class – Singapore Airlines
- Best Business Class – Qatar Airways
- Best Premium Economy – Air New Zealand
- Best Economy – Singapore Airlines
Again, I think that these choices are pretty good. Qatar Airways has made a big play of putting elements of first class into their business class to have the best business class and they have done a great job! Singapore Airlines was the first to have the suite on their A380 aircraft and they have followed it up with the impressive new suites. But, even without the suite, Singapore does a fantastic job of creating a wonderful first class experience.
As for Premium Economy and Economy, I will take their word for it! I have been in economy on Singapore but did not actually fly in it for the whole flight (just checking it out while flying first).
