Tomorrow and Wednesday are probably the biggest marketing days on the internet – Black Friday in July, or as Amazon calls it, Prime Day. While there is no doubt that Amazon has created some particularly good deals over the years, one of the best things about Prime Day is how it has managed to get most other retailers to offer great deals as well. But, how do you know you are getting a great deal from Amazon? Here is the tool you need.
The #1 Tool for Amazon Prime Day for Getting the Best Deals

Amazon is smart – no question about it. What they have done with Prime Day is to encourage affiliates (like this site) to write about Prime Day and the deals that it will have to get you to spend money at Amazon. Amazon gives a small percentage of those sales to their affiliates that drive the traffic and that’s that!
So, with all the sites that will be flooding your browsers, social media channels, and inboxes with “deals”, how do you know you are getting the best one? For my readers, I will say that I put a ton of time into trying to find what I believe are the best deals for my readers in tech, travel, and fitness gear but I still encourage you to use this tool.
The tool is CamelCamelCamel. Basically, it is a site that is like an archive machine for Amazon.com. It will show you the best prices on any product you put in (whether through name or link) over the last year or so and show you a graph of those prices, both from Amazon and 3rd party retailers sold through Amazon.
This is a great way to see at a glance if the price you are seeing on Prime Day truly is the best price. I have seen Amazon playing games already. There was an item I was looking at that was marked down to $69 but it said that it would be having a sale price coming in 12 hours so just wait and click notify to be told of the new deal.
Well, as time got closer, I noticed the item went up to $99 (still down from list price of $129) and when the “sale” went live, it said $89. Which means that Amazon actively tried to get me to pay $20 more than what I was ready to pay, and they called it a “sale!” With affiliates ready to make big cash this week from Prime Day, expect some huge headlines of “GREATEST DEAL EVER” – and now you can see if it truly is.
Again, I will do my best to give you only the best deals or what I consider to be good deals but feel free to let me know in the comments of the posts over the next couple of days if you know of a better deal, like from another retailer (which does not show up in CamelCamelCamel). They also have browser extensions that will save you a trip to the site! But, just know that you are giving it permission to access your history with it as well.
