Check out this great deal that lets you rent one-way rentals to or from the airports in major cities with a base rate as low as $8.99 – and it includes gas!

I first wrote about this about 1.5 years ago and had honestly completely forgotten about it until recently. I was hunting around for a rental and saw that this great deal was still alive and active so I thought it was worth reminding all of you that this thing was still going strong as well!

While many people may prefer to take Uber or public transportation from the airport to the city, there are others (like me) that may like to make some stops and be in command of their own ride. Even better, I like to be able to just toss my luggage into the car and not have to worry about it if I want to make some stops.

Thankfully, Avis has a great program for anyone that is like me! From just $9.99 at major airports around the US, you can get a rental car at the airport when you arrive and then you have 12 hours and 150 miles before you need to drop it at a neighborhood location someplace inside the city near the airport.

A sample date – the base rate for the SUV is actually just $13.49 and the rest is taxes

Plus, they will even pay for gas! This can be a huge help if you are dealing with traffic nightmares (even though you only get 150 miles of actual driving).

What You Need to Know About Avis One-Way Airport Rentals

Keep the car for up to 12 hours; get a free tank of gas and 150 free miles. Rates start at just $9.99 (and $14.99 for something like a SUV or Premium category car). You do need to be driving on certain days to get this deal.

  • Thursday to Friday — pick up at the airport, drop downtown
  • Sunday to Monday —pick up downtown, drop at the airport

No discount code required to take advantage of these low rates.

Just remember that you will have taxes on the rental as well so the rental cost is the base rate! Also, there may be some dates that actually return rates as low as $8.99 pre-tax!

All in all, this is a pretty great deal if you are traveling to the city from the airport and plan on staying in town. Sure, Uber or trains/metros are easier but there is something nice about being able to take some stops along the way or maybe even a little sightseeing and doing it all for way less than an Uber!

Of course, it works great in reverse as well! As long as you are traveling on the applicable days of the week, you are good to go to save!
