This is one of the longest Southwest sales in recent memory so plenty of time to plan or get your points together to book sale fares for flights into December!

Southwest sales are a normal part of a deal-hunter’s Tuesday morning. But, this time, this sale started yesterday and it is good for much longer than the usual two-three days – all the way until August 13! This means you have plenty of time to line up your schedule, watch how quarantine situations are developing, and get the points you may want to book this sale.

  • Continental U.S. travel blacked out November 25 & 28-30, 2020.
    • Sale fares to San Juan, Puerto Rico and international destinations blacked out November 20-22, 2020;
    • sale fares from San Juan, Puerto Rico international destinations blacked out November 27-30, 2020.

While normal Southwest sales last until Thursday or maybe Friday of that same week, this Southwest sale lasts an entire month. This is good news in these troublesome travel times as situations change on a weekly and almost daily basis. This way, you can wait to see if the place you want to visit will even be open for travelers when you plan on going.

Bad news? If your travel is anytime in September – December, it is highly doubtful you will know if it will be open before August 13 (sale end date). That is due to these constant changes by governments. Hey, at least Southwest has the best change/cancellation policy in the industry – even before Covid-19 came around!

This new sale starts at $49 for a whole bunch of city pairs and goes up from there. I was able to save a little bit on a current flight booked for October so definitely check your already-booked reservations to see if you can get any savings.

Check Your Already-Booked Reservations For Price Difference

So, now is the time to search for your tickets within this sale and see if you have a better price available now than when you had booked it. If the price has dropped, you simply select to change the flight and look at the same dates and flights again. Once you go through and confirm, you will receive a refund of the difference in miles and the cash for the taxes will be transferred for the new ticket.

In 1 Minute, You Can Have Your Points Back!

The whole process takes less than 60 seconds and you could save a lot of money or points! If you had booked your ticket in the past using cash, you will receive a refund in the form of a credit that is usable for 1 year from the time you originally booked the ticket. If you booked it with points, you will receive the points back in your account for the difference.
