JetBlue and Amazon Changes

A new email from JetBlue mentions the changes when shopping at Amazon.

It’s no secret I am a fan when it comes to shopping online. It is an easy way to earn extra (easy) rewards, but Amazon has always been a challenge when it comes to portals. Fortunately, we have the JetBlue portal, but not for much longer! Here are the JetBlue and Amazon changes.

JetBlue and Amazon Changes

The JetBlue portal is an easy way to earn 3x JetBlue points when you shop at Amazon. It was pretty inclusive and didn’t have particular restrictions like other portals.

That was until I received an email a little bit ago.

The Change:

Starting on 3/27/18, you will no longer earn JetBlue miles for your purchases on Amazon if you are not logged into JetBlue’s Wifi on JetBlue Flights.

If you are flying JetBlue and logged into their WiFi, you will still be eligible for earning 3x JetBlue miles for your Amazon purchases.

Another Option Gone:

For people (like myself), who shop at Amazon frequently, this hurts a little (ok, quite a bit). This was a very simple way to earn JetBlue miles and you could even use an Amazon gift card through the portal to earn JetBlue miles.

I’d have to assume this was valuable for many people and JetBlue saw a high number of payouts to people shopping through Amazon.

I wish they would have reduced the payout instead of removing it altogether, but unfortunately that isn’t the case.

Remaining Options:

Once this portal quits paying out valuable JetBlue miles, there are a few cash back portals that pay out for Amazon. These categories are very particular and if you aren’t shopping those categories, you earn no rewards.

Conclusions:

This is a pretty good blow to earning reward when shopping at Amazon.

You only have a couple of weeks remaining until earning JetBlue miles shopping at Amazon is a thing of the past. If you have been maximizing this option, it might be worth it to hit it hard the next couple of weeks. Because, once it is gone, it’s gone.

I started investigating ways to travel for less and when I redeemed my first award flight for my honeymoon, I knew I was hooked! Fast forward a couple of years and places I had never dreamed of visiting like Budapest, Honolulu, Bermuda and many other places where all within my reach, and for little to no money out of my pocket. Now, I have collected well over a million points and miles, and try to help people travel for less on their wallet.
